Entire regions drying up because some far-off city government bought all their water (or is just illegally taking it like with the Colorado River).

If you're interested in the politics of water in the southwest I recommend you read "Cadillac Desert". Published in the 90's but the data is still good and a lot of what the author predicted has come to pass.

Fun fact: The first people in North America originated from Siberia.

Mexico really has no claim to California - San Diego was first inhabited by the Shell Midden People which are decedents of the Clovis people, who were the first inhabitants of the Americas and originated in Russia. Mayan decedents did not reach this area til 1000s of years later.

Beautiful spot. And hell yes on the beer, over 130 breweries in business! I was born and raised in Del Mar, now residing in Las Vegas - what a change up.

Just got back from a week in Carlsbad..:surfer:. I have never seen so many nice 4runners, trucks and Landcruisers of all generations in one area ! Digging the pre-runner look on a lot of trucks. Its something you dont really see on the East Coast. Now i just got to convince the wife to move out there.....

There is much to like here but it is not enough anymore. It's a nice place ruined by the reconquistas who have taken over Sacramento.

A government who robs Peter to pay Paul can always rely upon Paul's vote. Thus the unsustainable, upside down world of California politics.

It was such a great place. The weather is still great, but it's not enough. It is time indeed to GTFO.

I moved to Colo. in 1974, they all told me i would not last after the first year. I lived there for eleven years in Coal Creek Canyon up by Wonderview, beautiful country.

That's why it's a pain finding the trim and color of a 4Runner not to mention getting a deal less than MSRP.

We have high taxes, some of the highest real estate prices in the world, 2nd amendment haters in government who ironically seem woefully unable to reduce crime, a lot of numbnuts driving on the freeways, lots of fascist HOA's, and an hour commute each way. Sounds like paradise? Come on in, the water's...wait, there is no water.
