Here's something I never understand with these videos: They take apart the whole interior. At that point the carpet will just lift out. Why not just remove it and take a pressure washer to it? Works amazing with Purple Power in my experience. I was cringing seeing this guy take a water hose to the interior.

Agreed. He was quite thorough in many areas and did a real good job... but he was 95% there. Why not just go the rest of the way and do it right? The smell and water are going to be trapped in the padding.
On a side note: how much does a typical detailer charge for a service like this?
That's the kind of cleaning I'll do on my own vehicles when I buy them (used), but it's incredibly labor intensive. I never imagined a pro detailer would be as thorough -- that must have taken all day. If he makes any money, it must be prohibitively expensive.
It really depends situation-to-situation, but some of these interiors can take all day to do correctly. So, you can figure on about $700 or so if they're working with a couple of people on it for their business. If it's a one man band, it can be more than that.
Some customers clearly don't want to invest that (some cars arent worth that investment), so that's when detailers start cutting corners to save time (Ie- leaving the carpet in, leaving the seats in sometimes, etc). It's not the "right" way to do it, but customer budgets sometimes necessitate it

Just did something similar to mine after getting it back from a family member who had it a few years. Carpet was not quite that bad but two tried with carpet steamer helped a lot. Still have a small area under passenger seat where they spilled a lot of coffee. Luckily I have leather seats which cut down what the effort. Also gave up on carpet mats and replaced them. They were filthy and worn. I used wet towels for most of the trim so no simple green odor.

$1k detailings are not out of the question around here. I wouldn't do it on an old 4Runner... but there are plenty of Porsche, Mercedes, etc. owners that would pay that much to get their car back to new condition... It is good money, for sure, but you will be dealing with clients with very high expectations.

The sticker shock previous in this thread is why I'm glad I'm only a hobbyist detailer and not doing it for a living.
People have no idea how much work goes into a job such as a full wheels-off detail and paint correction + ceramic coating + interior detail.
You could be talking 40hours into one detail job and $2,000.
Obviously someone wouldnt do that to their crusty old 4Runner, but it's a booming business for higher-end cars
