As I work on Grayson's 4 runner I want one and want it to be the best utilitarian, mileage champ, powerful, free of excessive electronics, durable and built for a lifetime. Post up your links and such, ideas on swapping a 5 cylinder inline Mercedes turbo diesel. I had an 82 300SD I bought used. As long as the glow plugs work it worked great as the car self destructed around it. Got 25+ on the highway. The German vacuum operated accessories failed consistently and regularly. That is why they lost the war. Air Conditioning would be a must here. Crap like power windows and locks I have no need for. I have an eye on a body and frame for 200 bucks. I have a wrecked one with a good rear axle W56 and such.and some parts, front axle is broken.:Cry: Anybody done the swap?
