OME rear + Daystar front

Hi guys, Trying to get the right parts to install. I've searched and read many posts on this topic but I didn't see any with the exact same setup I'm thinking so I figured I'd ask. I was originally going with just the Daystar 2.5 front/1.5 rear as the lift is only for aesthetic purposes. No off roading/wheeling will be done. I do however pull a boat (approx 4500 lbs) only about twice a year for about 20 miles round trip so I thought I should install some springs that would better handle the load in the rear to prevent excessive sagging. What I'm coming up with now is the Daystar 2.5" front spacer kit, then adding the OME 2895 For stock to medium loads; provides approx 2″ lift (Per the Wheeler's off-road site). As I understand, this spring is good for a nice ride even without the additional weight, but can handle more weight when needed without sagging as much as stock would. Being that it shows giving 2" of lift in the rear, I should be able to expect a pretty level sitting 4runner after install, if not a slight positive rake(which I am fine with).

Am I right with these assumptions? For the record, I do understand that there are probably "better" suspension options available, but for my budget and needs this setup will suit me just fine given that my assumptions/calculations on lift height and weight load carrying are correct. Currently have XREAS which I want to keep until it's necessary to replace.

Tires and wheels will be 17x8 Pro Comp 7005, 0 offset -4.5 BS with 265/70/17Duratracs.

Any help is appreciated! Thanks

Thanks for the recomendation Sparky. To be honest I don't know much about air bags, and I kinda want to keep it more simplified. Appreciate the info though.

Sounds like a perfect setup for your needs. I see no wrong with mixing brands but from personal experience go all OME. Was not a fan of my old spacers up front. Is it a budgetary decision? And the OME 3 in HD springs are stiff. Would guess the medium duty has to be better.

Hope this helps, let us know what ya settle on and good luck!

Here is a pix of my old scraps. Can't remember the parts list but your welcome to em.

Put it on in 04 and replaced it with OME 2 or 3 years later.

Back then the model was so new that spacers were the only option. Took a few years for the manufacturers to catch up.

Dan at Wheeler's Offroad answered my questions about the ride quality(896 being the HD and rougher ride option). So I think I should be happy with the 895.

It's a budgetary decision along with not really feeling the need to "go all out" right now for what I'll use it for. I want a daily driver that rides nice but want a more aggressive look than stock.

Are those Revtek spacers for the front? I would definitely take them off your hands if you don't have any use for them! What size and how much lift do they provide?

Anyone know if that's right or not? I've seen some other posts where guys with sport edition 4runners have used Revtek lifts but that doesn't mean they still had their XREAS either

The OME 895 are great springs, but they are 40% stiffer than stock. What rear shocks do you intend to use with them? I would not want to run them with stock shocks. If you are looking for some lift & want to reuse your stock shocks I would stick to spacers (daystar kit). But since you need better towing I would add the airbags. IMHO trying to use the 895's with stock shocks is a recipe for an uncontrolled rear end; poor ride and worse towing.

The problem most companies have with xreas is the install. Most shops don't understand xreas and in many cases it gets ruined during install as the hydraulic lines get disconnected or develop leaked due to being tweaked. Xreas is a hindrance during install.

Thank you for the info. Can someone point me in the right direction as to what airbag I would need? SPARKY mentioned Airlift 1000. I googled it, looks like there are a few different kinds... Part number maybe? thanks! Looks to be an inexpensive solution

I used firestone bags on my other truck. I may actually use firestone bags in my 895's, but I am Not sure if the 4135 part # is long enough with lifted springs. I will try and find out this week.

Rancid,

I just installed those springs along with Bilstein 5100's set at .85 and there is no need for spacers. I sit level. Look in the lift thread for my 4runner and see what you think. There is also another lift using OME 3". As airbags have been mentioned, I do agree with that. I am going to be looking into them once I get back to Orlando. I am currently driving cross country and can tell you that this setup is a nice ride and wasn't expensive. I don't know why, but I have never liked the idea of spacers. But that's my personal opinion.

Cheers!!

Once I have the Runner unloaded, I'll take measurements and see where it sits. But it turned out better than I had hoped.

Hey Cory, man your truck looks great. I'm not wanting to get rid of the XREAS until they're shot, so for now, the spacer route is where I'm heading. I was thinking the OME 895's in the rear for more load capacity but as it has been mentioned it might ride like crap. So I think Airlift is going to be the answer.I will stick with the stock setup, add spacers and airbags. That should fit my needs for now. I'm still interested to hear how your setup rides.

thanks

Oh yeah...XREAS.....missed that part :)

Thank you......

I have 895's in the rear and they ride good with or without the load. However, under load they do sag. The ride is great. Firm to plush. Handling is great. I had bags on my 03 Tundra, TRD suspension and all the bags did was correct the sag, but didn't firm up the ride at all. But 885's are not harsh or sharp when driving.
