TRD wheels with 1.25" Spidertrax. I'm rubbing the front bumper and the mud flaps at full lock. I trimmed down the front, seems to be ok, but I'm sure I'll run with any suspension compression. The mud flaps I figure will just take care of themselves. That plastic is very soft. Not sure what else to do aside from remove them, which I don't really want to do.

Oh and I found a note to the tech who did the installation.

Gave the undercarriage and the inside of the frame a Fluid Film bath.

I have done this twice on my 99 to help stave off rust growth. I want to get started on the 16 early to keep the frame factory-rustless as much as possible (there are already a few tiny spots beginning to rust near welds).

So I went out and bought a new Trail to keep my 99 Limited company. Sticker $38.7g, sale price was $35.2g, and I had them order me a set of TRD Pro wheels as a condition of the sale. Those get here next week.

Today I went to work with Plastidip.

I love this thing. So comfortable.

How many cans did it require to complete your rust proofing? I was in the process of converting my under body rust and spraying with a rubberized for some protection.
Your idea seems a lot easier and gives better coverage.

I use two cans inside the frame, and a can per third of the underbody. One can for the rear axle and back, one can between the axles, and one can in the wheel wells and in front of the front axle.

Unless you are using a converter with an encapsulator, I wouldn't recommend a rubberized coat. Sometimes that can actually just trap moisture in there and rust worse. I just hit my 4th gen with a bunch of encapsulator around all the surface rust, and am planning on a full FF inside and out on both the 5th gen and 4th gen. I sprayed my 5th gen with 4 cans last year and I have virtually no rust still. I will be investing in a gallon and spray gun before the winter this year.

Fluid film is really good stuff and really penetrates and seeps into the metal well.

I plan on recoating each fall. Depending on how rough the winter is, I may recoat into the spring also.

Looks awesome! Love the way the TRD wheels look on the white TE! Do you think the wheel spacers are adding to the rubbing issue? I'm running 275s and was thinking about adding the same size spacers you have. Thanks! Sub'd fa sho!!

The spacers are definitely the cause of the rubbing. The tires are stock size. Though I have read that grabbers tend to run on the large side. I trimmed the front bumper, moved the fender lining forward, and trimmed the mud flaps. Rubbing gone, for now. I still need to see if I rub anything at full lock with suspension compression.
