I'm pretty sure Target could have found a smaller box - this is what I found when I opened the box. My wife couldn't figure out what she ordered that would come in such a big box.

SO wasteful. The difference in the cost of box sizes X their number of sales must be pricey.

I figure it's all about seasonal employees, making it worse was that we got 2 other boxes from them at the same time. All 3 orders could have fit in the one box with plenty of room to spare.

This has happened to me on several occasions from Amazon. They probably just buy boxes that most everything they carry will fit into, but it does seem wasteful. As for the items coming separately, they may have originated from different stores/warehouses? It's often that way with Amazon.

I have seen the same from Amazon. I order a small part and it comes in a huge box with a bunch of bubble wrap like air filled plastic.

Other times stuff comes in tailor made boxes.

Whatever it's free shipping with Prime.
