opinion on 2004 4runner 4wd sport edition

So today me and my girlfriend were looking for a 4runner but I am all into the 3rd generation 4runners... but she found a 2004 Toyota 4Runner 4WD sport edition W/ 185k mileage but looks like it was well maintain with carfax history and everything asking for $8995 from a dealer. I need your opinions if this a good and reliable car if I well maintain it.

Try finding a '06+. I know the price might be higher, but you won't regret it. I would never buy a 3rd gen over the 4th. Just my opinion. Good luck with the purchase.

Yikes...$9K seems steep for that much mileage and that year.

Well I have one andi like it a lot. But it only had 100k on it and it was a dealer maintained 1owner - owned by an old AF captain.

Sounds like you're trying to stay within a budget of around $9000. If so, I'd say wait until you can find a lower mileage 1owner 3rd gen. You should be able to find one of those for around $9000. You'll be probably be looking at around closer to $15k to start for a 4th gen like that.

But it's your money and I have no idea what you plan to do with it. Might be a good vehicle with just a **** ton of highway miles.

An 04 with almost 200K is worth about 7K in my opinion, if it's in good shape and well maintained.
