I plan on having my 2nd gen for some time. As the biggest hitch in the gitty up is the head gasket issue. I want to do a header install and exhaust upgrade. Before I get into that I would like to do a body lift 1-2 in still have not decided(from Roger Brown) in hopes that this will give me some extra room to do the headers and obvious tire clearance. And before that even I want to install an electric fan, the Taurus mod. I want to do this first as I have read that you need to remove the lower part of the fan shroud.
Am I missing anything in between. And it gives me things to do as I save up for the CA legal headers :biggrin1:
1. Electric fan mod
2. body lift
3. headers and exhaust

Suspension lifts are way better IMO. A set of ball joint spacers would give you the lift you want.

I plan on doing suspension lift. Ball joint spacers from toytec and OME 2900 coils to raise up the rear. I have never been a fan of living on stilts, body lifts, but I see on here that a lot of people run them so it must not be as bad as i thought.
That being said I can be talked out of it. I was just thinking it will make the Header install easier.

x2 on no body lift. I don't have a 3.0 ut im pretty sure you don't need to lift at all to do headers. With that said if it were my truck id do as follows
1. Headers/heat wrap
2.fan mod
3. Suspension lift(if you really want it)
4.SC 3.4 swap:biggrin1:
But really if you need to save up for the headers, do it before anything else, maybe just my opinion

Only do a body lift if your going to do a 3.4 swap. Otherwise just do headers fan and suspension lift like the other have said

Not so much save up, I could get them now. I have to get the OK from the wife. Need to convince her its a necessity :wink2:

Keep in mind a suspension lift doesn't help you clear tires if you plan on wheeling it, only a body lift/bump stop extension/trimming will help you. Keep in mind a body lift may give you issues for bolting on armor since the armor bolts to the frame and if it hugs the body, the body now sits at a different height. A body lift is also considerably cheaper.

A suspension lift however will help your approach/departure/break over angles and potentially improve your ride quality. You can also increase the down travel of your rear axle assuming it isn't limited by binding already, and likewise you can get more down travel with the IFS if your CVs aren't binding too. A suspension lift however increases your CG more than an equivalent body lift, which is bad. Food for thought as a comparison.

I do plan on wheeling. Nothing too extreme at is my DD. I am hoping to put 33's on it when I wear out my current tires
