overland expo east?

I'll be taking my Wife and two girls. Leaving out of Texas on the 5th. Hoping to find a good Camp Site along the way with some great Trails the 5th and 6th. Maybe something in Alabama. Maybe meet some of you guys up there and ride along.

last year they did have camp open the day before the event in the afternoon so you could get your spot and setup
I'm planning on attending. May be on my own or with my wife or a buddy, too early to tell right now.
I'm driving from Northeast Ohio and may be able to sneak a day or two on the front or back end of the trip. I'd be up to doing a Trail run or two if the opportunity presents itself. Also, I love the idea of convoying in and camping in a large group. Looking forward to watching the post to see how it all comes together.

Am I the only one who thinks the event is priced too high?
For me and my girlfriend to attend it would be $280 and that doesn't include gas, food, or anything other than admission and a place to camp. I was really excited about this, but I don't know if I will be attending any more.

i would not say cost is to much. for an event from Thursday afternoon to monday morning is not that much. going to any event that is 3-5 days to stay at a hotel is going to be over that

2 - Wife is doing the women's only off road course
2 - water crossing
3 - rollover recovery
Saturday
8 - Tire Repair
10 - Offroad course with wife
1 - Wilderness First Aid with wife
3 - Vehicle Marshalling with wife
4 - overland Photography with wife
Sunday,
8 - Offroad course with wife
11 - Trip planning in digital world
1 - Recovery techniques without a winch
3 - maybe tire testing (i'm not sure what this is)

I think it's a little ridiculous you have to buy a Biltmore ticket. How were they not able to work out a deal...
Most people who haven't been to the Biltmore will end up wanting to go see it and will be forced to buy a ticket.. I was just there two weeks ago and don't really feel like buying more for my group.

I was really surprised at the price also. Last year, it was $250 for the Overland Experience and . . . the rain ruined most of the "Overland Experience" for me. This year its almost $100 more. I don't see the justification for it. I will take a look at the courses available before I make my final decision.
How do you think they landed the Biltmore Estate as a venue to begin with? I was shocked that they were able to lock down the BE until I saw the required $50 BE fee. I've never been there so I don't really mind paying to see the place, but I immediately thought about the people who have already visited.

Price sealed the deal for us. For the family to go, it was ridiculous. Maybe next year!

It's a beautiful place, and I think everyone who hasn't been should definitely go to see it.
That being said, and you will see what I'm talking about, the estate is at the beginning of the facility. After the estate, you drive for like 15-20 minutes of farmland/fields/river property that would be perfect for the event, and you won't be intermingled with the business of the Biltmore home. I just think that most people are going to be turned away this year, compared to last year due to the added cost.
