oversize tires and smog (California)

I've been told that I can;t get my 22r with /slightly/ oversize tires smogged because it is a manual. Anyone else have this problem?

I'm in San Diego, I see a LOT of classic Toyota's and 4runners with oversize tires, most of which are manual.

Anyone know of a smog place in San Diego/Escondido area that can smog an 86 toyota with oversize tires and a lift??

Or do you have to keep a set of 225/75r15 tires and wheels around for smog day every 2 years?

The guy I went to also said he couldn't do it if it was lifted "P. Where do you all go for smog?

Oh btw this is a pic of the vehicle in question. I know it's not a 4runner, but I'm a long time member here and it's chassis wise an early 4runner Also I owned this truck since 1988, gave it to a friend 15 years ago when his car gave up the ghost with the stipulation that he give it back some day so I can turn it into a Truggy.

I get mine smogged with my 33x12.50x15s, 22r, 5 speed manual no problem. Maybe try a different smog shop?

Oooookay. I took the fakerunner to Smogs by Rita in Escondido who is the person that I always had smog the truck when I owned it originally. She said she doesn't know anything about problems with resonable oversize tires (40+inches might be an issue).

That first guy probably just talked me out of getting it smogged because he didn't want to deal with it even thought I told him what it was on the phone :/

It passed, though HC was pretty high, likely due to a VERY badly set valve clearance that was actually holding open an exhaust valve slightly during the intake stroke of Cyl #2. I fixed that this afternoon and the horrible shaking during idle is now completely gone. Purrs like a kitten now!
