Hey All, I posted this up over on Expedition Portal and figured I'd cross-post here.
I have never been to BESF but would really like to. I'm more into the family style camping/easy trails exploring aspect; no rock crawling/hard trails..... If anyone is interested in trying to plan a weekend post up here. Maybe we can try for something while the weather is nice.
I'm thinking we could meet up Friday evening, hang out, grill, and hash out a plan for Saturday into Sunday. Depending on how many people we get, we could possible split up into groups if people want to do more or less. My usual goal is to basically wander around, take in the sights, get lost, get found, see some birds and wildlife and overlooks, and not break anything and get stranded on the trail. I have absolutely no experience in BESF besides what I've read on EP. (I am planning on picking up a Purple Lizard map.) I'm running a lightly modified 4Runner, so no rock gardens or high speed runs for me.
Depending on interest and feedback we could try and organize a group camping site at Poe Paddy State Park to use as our "base camp". It may make smaller, shorter, exploitative trips easier to coordinate. If anyone has more experience with the State Forest campsites chime in.
I called and confirmed the availability of the Group Camping site (site A). Whilst I'm not a huge fan of "field camping" I think it would make a nice "base camp" for the group. It's a whopping $43 a night (which I'd be happy to front ).

I'm thinking this will be a loosely based weekend. I haven't planned any trails or routes yet.
So far we have about 3-4 interested/99% confirmed parties attending (about 12-15 people so far.) If anyone is interested please PM me and I'll add you to the list.
