Hi everyone, looking to swap out my Bridgestone KO2 to something different. The KOs are great for dry and dirt, but when it comes to rain and wetter snow here in the NW, they just dont inspire confidence at all. The snow here is quite different than the east coast. A lot wetter and heavier.

What I do like about the KO2 is the mannerisms in city where it's very low noise.

Does anyone have any suggestions on a tire that remains low noise on city and hwy like the ko2 but performs a bit better in rain and snow? Looking for an AT option for those who have ran KO2 and switched to another brand here in our NW climate.

This is a year round tire for me, mostly for commuting and the few trips back country for camping and skiing at most.

I have Toyo AT2s and they have been very good in the rain and snow. At replacement time I plan to get the AT3 with the Snow Peak rating as a replacement when it's time.

Cook I'll check out those toyo at3. They seem to have good reviews also for wet.

The KO2 just slip and slide, my buddy also has the same issues on his ko2 on his Tacoma.

I’ve been very happy in Seattle with the Cooper discoverer AT3. Silica infused rubber helps with rain traction. They don’t seem any louder than the original highway tires, although I kept those for only 400 miles. I drive them pretty hard on the street sometimes and if they do lose grip they catch quickly. I have a lot of confidence in them.

Hey fellow PNW-er. 3 tires I can recommend that I have personally ran. Wildpeaks at3w, goodyear duratracs, general grabber ATX.

I am currently on duratracs right now and it has performed well the last 2 winters dealing with slush and lots of rain here in the pnw. Great looking tire as well. That said, it's the loudest between the 3 tires I've owned but still reasonable for city/daily commuter.

Grabber atx's are my second favorite, similar tread pattern as ko2s but for some reason they just perform better in the rain and snow we get here in the pnw. Noise gets louder as the tire ages but nothing too crazy. Another good looking tire If that's part of your decision making.

My most favorite and will probably purchase again for my next set? Falken Wildpeaks at3w. Conquered everything I threw at it on and off road, be it summer or winter. I think the rubber compound formula they use plus the sipping and tread pattern just makes it work. That said, it was the heaviest tire out if what I have ran (E load) and the treadblocks aren't as agressive as the other two tires I have mentioned. Quietest tires I have ran as well, but got louder towards the end of its life. I would recommend this to you based on what your needs are. A perfect do-it-all tire that is quiet.

The KO2 is made by BF Goodrich, not Bridgestone. BF Goodrich is owned by Michelin. Bridgestone owns Firestone. Two different companies.

I second the Duratrac. Just did 4000 miles through the SW and got everything (6-8 hours of snow in the Cascades and Sierras, BAD winds in the southern Sierras, two days of rain from Ogden to Wenatchee.) No problems=a little noisy at 80 mph.

Here's a recent thread. I still recommend the Yokohama A/T G015 without reservation. Great in rain, very good in snow (3PMSF rated) and quiet.

I had the ATX's on my Tundra, I liked them for the snow. We don't get much rain here, but they seemed to perform well in the snow...

I run Grabber ATX in a P rating year round in Oregon and they perform fantastically. Handle rain easily and runs up to the mountain to ski are a piece of cake.

Nitro Terra grappler G2. Quiet, great on snow/slush, way better in the wet stuff than KO2s.

I had the ATX's on my Tundra, I liked them for the snow. We don't get much rain here, but they seemed to perform well in the snow...

I'm guessing interior, dry snow? Loved the grabbers but duratracs were on sale at cad tire when I upsized. I'm either going to get Wildpeaks or try Cooper st maxx next when I upsize again haha

About mount my 2nd set of duratracks. Live in seattle so…. No complaints so if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. Also, this is my 3rd set overall so I have over 100k on duratrac now. Good tire.

I'm near Vancouver, Canada and I'm running 265/70-17 wildpeak a/t3w on my 2020 TRD off road and am very happy with them. Initially had some balancing issues but all seems fine now.

It's my daily driver, everything from city commutes to long highway driving, PLENTY of rain+flooded road driving, washboard FSRs and rutted/rocky FSRs, slushy snow and snow up to the skid plates.

This is why I love tire threads. I have had the exact opposite experience. Love my KO2s on my 4R and the other vehicles I've had them on. No rain issues (yet) and silent. I've had a few sets of Terra Grappler G2s and the were HORRIBLE rain tires and incredibly loud for such a tame AT. Almost MT loud on both occasions. I hated them.

OP, I'd try the Falken AT3W or Toyo AT3.

Yeah i guess tire feel is a subjective thing. Couldve been that i was running them on 18x9s instead of the stockers. Ive been thru a LOT of tires tough, Duratracs were always a favorite, but insanely noisy, Ultraterrains were heavy as hell and ate every. single. rock. you drove over, the KO2s were quiet, but i'd always find them slipping when i'd corner from a stop, and i didnt like the feel. G2s were a good compromise for me. And they're on the 21 TRD pro i just ordered, so thats one less thing on the project list for me..... for now.

Well, feel is definitely subjective. But, wet traction and noise level really aren't. It seems like every tire thread just has similar stories. Some have great experiences with a tire, others have the opposite. I've run a ton of different tires over the years. I never run out a set before changing, going bigger, etc. on the numerous off road cars I've had. You can narrow it down, but you really don't know until you try them yourself.

I live in vancouver canada, and its hills galore. It doesnt take much to lose traction off a start.

Noise is definately a factor for me. My bat like hearing will drive me nuts with any hum. I'll look into all those options.
