Does anyone have any tips on how to get another cars paint off of your bumper. Some jackass in an old black cavalier backed into my front driver side bumper, right next to the daytime running lights/fog lights. It doesnt appear to be cracked or scratched really, it is mostly just black skid marks. Any suggesstions or experienced methods?:awais:

try washing the area with regular dish soap and then use a light to medium cut rubbing compoud on it. It may or may not take it out depending on how much was transfered and how hard.

Bug and Tar Remover by Turtle Wax ALWAYS WORKS. It will be our secret.

I've used it on the bumpers, side mirrors, as well as behind each door handle. I've been using it for years.

I would start by washing the bumper and using a claybar on the paint transfer first. That usually works, but if the paints on there really good, you can try a paint cleaner. Meguiar's makes some in their Deep Crystal line (it's part of a 3 part system and comes in a maroon bottle). That should take it off and if all else fails, move to something more abrasive like Meguiar's Scratch X. Just don't start with a basic rubbing compound right off... it will probably remove some of the clearcoat and scuff your paint while removing the paint transfer. Good luck...

Any luck?

subzero, any luck removing the black skid marks? I too have this problem. Parked in a Wal-Mart lot and noticed the green Expedition next to me and thought about moving the truck to a different spot. Well, hind sight is 20-20. When I came out the Expedition was gone but they left a nice green scuff on the right rear quarter panel. And a small dent to boot. I bought a clay bar and am going to try that first. Just haven't gotten around to it.

Clean the area first with soap and water then use rubbing compound... wax after, it should take out the paint...

Same thing i did when i accidentally hit a cement pole, yellow paint was all over my bumper, now it's all gone, i just had to touch up paint some areas because my actual paint got chipped from the impact
