I just have it pulled out that far for pics. I can lay it sideways in the crack of the seats no problem. I very seldom have a passenger other than my dog, but hey, if you don't like them then don't order any. Pretty simple.

I can also make them for the headrest and to replace the stock handles

Do you think these would work in place of the OEM metal clips for the DS & PS overhead handles if I wanted to put FJ Handles overhead on a 5th Gen?
In your opinion, will they handle the weight as the OEM clip/handles?

I'm using them and think they will be fine unless you are using them for something other than the weight of an average dude. If you're mother in law is extra big, you might keep the rears stock ;-p

If you get the white (non transparent) versions they are denser. But I am pretty sure they would work just fine. The problem you wold run into if you are drilling new holes and putting thee in, is the sheet metal may bulge and or tear.
