Passenger Side Lean

Do I have the only 4th generation that leans to the passenger side? I have researched the lean and everything I have read has been driver side. Even with a full tank mine still leans to the passenger side?

Sorry man. I don't have a passenger side lean on my 4R. But, I do jump into the passenger seat and let my wife drive after a some frosty cold ones. :cheers:

Blown struts/shocks on that side? Could be blown and then your springs started sagging.

I dont have enough posts to start my own thread so I'll jump in on this one, hopefully that is okay....

So I have this exact same problem. I was thinking I'm literally the only 4th gen 4Runner with a passenger side lean. If I measure its about 1" different in the front.

It cant be blown shock/struts as I have virtually brand new King C/O's on it. Only really happened after I installed them. They are not leaking and ride great on and off road...no out of the ordinary noises.

Like I said they are off by 1" AFTER being cranked up. Driver side is about an inch of threads and passenger is 2" of thread and is still lower.

Any ideas?

Check your tire pressure and thread height.
 
By thread height are you referring to how much thread is showing?

I forgot to mention, these are coil-overs for a 05-15 Tacoma. This is what was sold and installed by the shop but they should be the same minus the bottom eyelet? Or I'm wrong on that one...

I used center hub to fender measurements when I did this. I did it in my drive-way which to my knowledge "looked" flat from side to side.

I did re-measure at the garage at my work and it turns out I'm only about 1/4" off which is hardly noticeable. For some reason it would look really bad in certain area's. Still interesting to me why the passenger is lower as I did have to crank it up more on that side by about 1/2" of threads.

LOL, tread of the tire, not the wheel gap. Also check the tire pressure for all four tires.

I know what you meant , but how does tire tread matter when I'm measuring from the center hub to fender. When I'm talking about it leaning I mean visually from the front not looking in at the wheel gap.

And when I say thread I mean the thread showing on the king coil overs. I'm just interested in any idea why my passenger side would sit so low in comparison as I had to crank that coilover more just to get somewhat level.

What rear coils are you running? The Metal Tech coils have a driver specific coil that helps with the driver side lean. That in turn pushes the passenger front down. I just adjusted my passenger coil over with a little more preload than the driver side to fix it.

It's all relative. Let's say the tread on one of your tires is half an inch lower than the rest of the tires, that may contribute a slight imbalance. Same with your tire pressure.

Also, do you have a sub or anything else heavy on the passenger side?

Finally, maybe the oil or nitrogen level is off on that one side. The simplest way to test this is to swap the driver and passenger side coilovers to see if the same thing happens on the driver side.

I'd just crank the passenger side or lower the driver side and call it a day. Unless it's really affecting handling or it's very visibly off I wouldn't really worry too much about it.

Something definitely seems off b/c one coilover shouldn't need an inch difference of pre-load. Maybe the oil or nitrogen level is fudged.

With the weight difference between driver and passenger side one is going to need more or less preload anyway to account for that difference. If he's got a spacer jammed in there anywhere to account for driver lean (not sure if it was mentioned or not) that's going to throw things off too.
