Pelfreybilt Group 31 Battery Tray

With the recent group buy purchase of the NorthStar batteries, I figured I would give Pelfreybilt a call and see if there is interest in discounting the battery tray.

Well, good news..... They are interested!!

I have seen many people install this tray and it seems to work well for it's function.

The price - Still looking into this but tentatively it will be $100 shipped to the lower 48 stats. HI and AL are not included, sorry. Regular price is $125 plus shipping!!!

The units will ship bare and not powder coated.

Good news is that it works on all Generations of 4runner...

You are criticizing this group buy. If you can make it yourself, do it. If you can find a better price, buy it. Otherwise, sign off the computer, you are wasting your mom's data plan.

People that criticize organizers and vendors of group buys are nothing but whiney little babies.

It sounded like they didnt want to complicate the group buy. Im sure if you request it in addition to the group buy they wont deny your money

i'm curious, can this be used as a aux battery mount too? has anyone tried that? specifically in the spot behind the passenger headlight...

i'm signed up for the shrock GB for a dual battery tray but its a little more expensive. Just wondering if this tray will do the job as well.

I can see it looks like i may have to drill holes but that's not a huge deal...

anybody know????

The title should read battery cage, not battery tray.
The cage will keep the battery in place more and less from moving around and the potential for yanking cables.

If you compare this to other "trays" its more robust

I spray painted mine and never looked back. Very happy with the product. Also happy to support a small shop and USA craftsmanship.

A group 31M does NOT fit in the OEM tray. It either is tilted, or you need to cut off the turned up edges. It also will be able to twist under the tie-down. I ran mine like that while the cage design was being finished.

Alternative Group 31M Battery Tray

Not trying to crap on the thread.
Not trying to kill the group buy.
Not trying to kill support for a local made in USA product.


But if you are interested in a Made in China, Vinyl Coated Steel battery tray that is pretty heavy duty you might Check this Battery Tray out. Only $10.11 plus shipping.

Will it fit the Diehard Group 31M? Why, yes, yes it does.

These are pretty solid trays. I was shocked how heavy they are.

I ordered 2 for my 2011 Trail, on one of them I cut and then bent the extra 2" up 90 degrees and mounted my reservoir to it to fit on the passenger side for my dual battery setup. Then mounted the 2nd one on the drivers side in place of the plastic OEM one and put the 31M in it. Total cost about $40 for the entire tray project, both sides.

That being said the 31M does look a bit naked hanging out there and I wouldn't mind a better tie down over top of some kind........this cage might be the ticket
