Went to pepboys to get some tires for my sons Honda Accord. He's a full-time college student and works part-time at a grocery store. Needless to say, he doesn't have a lot of $. We went on-line initially looking for some decent tires just to get him to work(10 min.) and school(30 min.) Pep boys was running one of their 'buy 3, get 1 free' promotions. So we clicked on it and these tires came up. The reviews were positive, so we went ahead and made an appt., which would be in 2-3 days. I called my local pepboys to see if we could come in that day and was assured that the tires in question were in stock and eligible for the buy3 get1 free rebate. Well, guess what, I receive an e-mail stating the tires are not eligible and that ur SOL! Called the "help" line and was told that, basically u are screwed. Sorry about the rant, but I'm so pissed they ripped my son off. So please be careful when dealing with pepboys. They are deceptive! Better yet, just go somewhere else... ANYWHERE ELSE!!!

I've used them and they are legit. I would wait until the weekend of the 4th to buy .... bound to be some good deals.

When browsing tires be sure to check out the "surveys" linked within the page instead of the reviews for the tire. Surveys are usually from a much much larger sample.

Lesson learned... tires are M&B already. You know what they say, " experience is what u get, when u DON'T get what u want in the first place".

99% of those chain tire shops are pure junk. The prices aren't even that good anyway.

I use Tirerack for reviews and order the actual tires from DiscountTireDirect. Every so often they run a $100 rebate and on top of that, they beat prices. Shipping in free too. I get them shipped to my house and get them installed by my mechanic of choice.

^ I agree with u 100%. I only put BFGs or Michelins on my vehicles. I wanted to replace with the Touring T/As that were on it, but they weren't in his budget.

Pep Boys just sucks in general.
I go in to buy a battery for my dad's 02 GMC savana, first of all they didn't know what a savana was - punk behind the counter acted like I didn't know what I was talking about.
So I turned the tables, "G...M..C... SAVANA. One of the last with the 5.7, I looked at the battery on your website, both top and side posts, so I know you have it listed."
"..Oh yeah there it is. Do you want us to install it?"
"How much?"
"Uhh.. let me ask.." I hear some guy in the back, "18 bucks! Wait, it's a gmc? I'll do it for 17"
I laughed, and said "I'll just do it myself in my driveway boys. Thanks." Paid and got the hell outa there.
I shop at CarQuest and for things like oil and additives, walmart's cheap.

Yes Walmart is thee place for oil, additives, car wash items, and waxes/polishes. Just don't expect any help and ur good to go...

Walmart is the Great Satan! If I have the luxury of knowing in advance what I need, I order from Amazon (Prime memberships are the shiznit, and the prices can't be beat). If I need something right now, it's O'Reillys or NAPA. Autozone and Pep Boys are horrible.

I know you guys are wayyyy past this point in the discussion, but out of curiosity, how come you did not have a chance to argue about the false adertising before having it installed and paying for it? If I walked into the store and they refused to give me the deal the website promised I'd probably just leave

A bit of clarification eddie, the way it works is once the work is completed, u take ur receipt and mail it in with the rebate form. Or in my case, u go online and register ur 'service work order number'. Either way, they mail u a rebate check. The service manager looked at the same page I did and assumed(uh-oh), as I did, that all was kosher. I was going to go back to him and say WTF! But knowing my temper, I'd probably kick the tish outta him, and end up in jail. And I promised my wife I wouldn't do that anymore.

If you have a local Discount tire they will match their discount direct site's price and you can get everything done in-store. I saved about 300 bux getting them to beat theri in-store price otherwise I would've ordered them and installed them myself.

If you paid with a credit card, you should try filing a chargeback on one of the three tires. I know that's what I would do.

I used to like Pep Boys back in the late 1980s, but they have REALLY gone downhill since then -- as did the neighborhood near the store. LOL!

Seriously, if you want tires, consider a Costco membership. They have the BEST BRANDS - Goodyear, Michelin, Bridgestone, etc.,etc., and their prices are all inclusive. No 'extra' separate charges for road hazard warranty, nitrogen gas filling, rotation, valve stems, etc., etc. They are very good with customer service, too, and their employees are helpful & competent.

The service at Costco tire may vary from whichever store you choose. Also, I don't think the prices are competitive at all. You could easily get any of the tires they sell for much cheaper online, even when they run their monthly coupons.

If you buy tires on-line, it will not include road hazard warranties or rotating & balancing the tires every 5,000 miles. You don't pay shipping charges with Costco, either.

Now, if you are buying wheels AND tires - then that is a different story.
