Performance distributor cap and rotor

This post is just to see if anyone has every used one or bought one and how it worked.i doubt it works any better then the basic ones you can buy at the parts store.

But has anyone used one or have bad things to say about them? AutoZone sells performance cap and rotor sets with wires. Made by ACCEL, iv never herd of them before.

I would only use those performance caps and what not if i had the complete performance ignition system. Not sure you would see any benefit with the stock system.

I wouldn't let Accel crap near my truck anyway. If you need go-fast goodies, LCE will help you waste your money. :)

Ha ha go fast parts for a 22 RE that's funny!
Kid is absolutely right about wasting your money though.

The 3.0 is just a dog on its death bed and a 22 RE is a maxed out motor you can't get anything more out of it.

Sure you can get a 35 hp more than stock motor for 4k$ but hey it's not like there's many other options that have better horse power for a cheaper price.[emoji6][emoji6]

Witch all of your guys statements makes perfect sense. Just making sure before I blow my money out the door hahaha I don't wanna do that. I'll get the stock one from AutoZone

Accel has been around for a long time and has some pretty good products. However, like everyone said; "you would probably be throwing your money away"! There is a possibility that the cap and rotor would have brass contacts versus aluminum from Auto Zone. IMO, that would be worth considering. Just my 2cents.

Correct.
No such thing as a performance cap and rotor but do buy them only if they have brass conductors.

Please the 22re can be built way less than 4 grand and youll have a pretty good engine to boot

I have owned over 30 classic Toyotas.
When you have never seen a problem free 3.0 or a 22re that actual maintains highway speed, then you can tell me to chill.
They have some positive details but unfortunately the market of conversions or upgraded engines is to cost effective to worry about the old engine issue.
I'm looking at a Toyota D2 diesel for my next project just because it can be done and is better in every way to any other Toyota engine available for my trucks.
When you compare the cost of rebuilding a 22re or 3.0 properly, to the cost of a conversion to a more reliable and better power and better mpg engine. It's a no brainer, the cost is the same in some cases and only a little bit more in others.
It makes sense and it works better. Nostalgia has its limits and money is one of them for 99% of the population.

It cost me $1200 for a full rebuild of my 3VZE engine, I did it myself. Code 52 on cold days and a mystery oil leak are the current plagues, not horrible. A good 5VZE rebuilt would've been over $1200, and I'd have to fabricate exhaust, repin all the connectors, buy a new ECU, cut the hood or lift the body, and I'd have to rig something up for A/C. The 3.0 was fine for years and its fine now. I compared highway speeds and acceleration to a bud's 2010 4cyl Jeep (Patriot?). Mine accelerated much better, kept 70mph much better, etc.

I can rebuild a 22RE for under $500 if the block and head is sound, and with a five speed it'll do freeway speeds all day on 31" tires and stock diffs. And that's at 5000 feet.

This sums it up perfectly my man, everybody underestimates the 22R/RE because most of them are worn out, out of tune POS's at this point, but the cost of parts is cheap, and in good knick, they're just enough motor for a light mid-80's Toyota.

I have had fresh ones too still not enough motor for my taste. And that's what it is to, my opinion my experience and my vehicles. The old Toyota engines just can't make me smile but I have been spoiled by my 2010 Tacoma and riding in Diesel swapped truggys and daily drivers.
