Thanks!!! I'm very excited to get back into the fold. This forum had a pretty great group of folks who had a combination of smartassedness and willingness to answer my invariably odd, sometimes probably dumb, questions. I was really sad when I left and had to get rid of my 5th Gen. It was a pretty sweet ride.

Having this will eliminate vehicle payments, provide more room for the "furry kids" (german shepherd and an aussie), and general peace of mind.
 
so the 97 Limited is probably sold. I've given the gentleman my opinion that he should not sell it to his coworker's son (anything that goes wrong she will be on his case).

Well.....this dude makes me wonder......said he replaced the passenger side valve cover in 15 minutes. after seeing another writeup on here, I wonder if he did it properly. He now says he will replace the drivers side, and replace the lower ball joint instead of coming off the price an extra 200 bucks.

I'm thinking about running far far away.:lookout::lookout:
 
Too bad you aren't here in AZ, there as so many t4R's that meet your criteria... feel like a road trip? fly out here and drive back...

Can be frustrating sometimes. All you want is a solid rig to start with and not some back hills mechanics special that's going to give you a headache (or something else.... :frisky: )

At least you're walking in there with the knowledge from here and hopefully call his BS if there is any. You should call him up and talk to him about that valve cover again and when he said 15 min, say "That's impressive, since it takes most on our forum that long to just take our intakes off in that amount of time. And you did that, plus the throttle body, intake manifold, valve cover, removed all the old gaskets, plugs, half moons and such AND PUT IT ALL BACK TOGETHER in the short amount of time! You Sir, ARE A GOD!!!!"

Maybe he has an old 22R engine stuck in it or something....

Ok, maybe not talk to him with so much sarcasm, that may backfire, but hope you can find the right one at the right price. Not everyone is out to screw you over.

To top it off he started hitting on me after the phone call. That was immeasurably more frustrating.

Yep. Took a chance on calling a guy about a 97 SR5. He's been the single owner, has all the maintenance records, etc....Going to pick it up this evening.

He's a retired wildlife biologist (something I'm actually interested in!!)

Off Topic, but I just looked up where Clarksville is. My family originally came from Cape Girardeau, MO. Moved to AK just before I was born, but still have some family down in that area.

I'm actually from WA state. Halfway between Yakima and the Tri-Cities. The Army brought me here and I stayed when I got out. I miss the mountains and home, but the cost of living is cheap here, and the job market is decent, plus I dont have to be bilingual (yet).

Yeah, I grew up in Western Montana (Thompson Falls) so I know what you mean about missing the mountains. Even though I was born in Alaska and live here, getting road access to mountains is harder then you think up here. It's not like all the mountain logging roads I grew up on as a kid in Montana and Idaho. Army Training in Yakama was fun (while stationed in Ft Lewis).

I've even thought of moving once I get this kid out of my house to somewhere where I can get to the mountains again. I can still work on the Slope but due to oil prices and this state, work is drying up. It's just a waiting game.

I never knew so many people to whine and complain as being out at the Yak (I was stationed at lewis as well)

All because of that northern wind that would cut through folks in the winter unless you were used to it. LOL.
