Agree. But the situation was two trails either side and an "island" of non-muck between. Without getting into obnoxious detail it was the only way. He came out like butter, all good.

ugh, the mud. I'm still cleaning up from the Toyota Appalachian round-up mud fest. It was fun at the time...

Not sure how you deal with the window down, mud flinging inside though...

It was dirty and trashed at that point, didn't matter. Had my son with me. With all the in and out all day and camping, mud was everywhere.

I took $16 to the power wash to clean outside/under and ran out of cash/time. Think I hand scooped out from my skid plate about 40 lbs of mud alone. LOL. Spent an hour on inside, it's "presentable" now.

All worth it, my lil dude will have those memories forever [emoji1360]

4 Runner in mud

A word of caution. We have a lot of mud here in the swamps of Louisiana. I quit taking my 4R in the mud because I got tired of replacing seals and bearings. The grit in heavy mud is finer than sand and easier to go through seals. It also promotes rust

That is good advice in general but somewhat overrated. It's certainly true if you really have to bear down with traction on a hard pull, but if you're doing an all-momentum snatch extraction it's not really that dangerous. I yanked an FJ40 out of a snowy ditch with a Honda CRX in reverse on ice once with a snatch strap. I had no traction whatsoever so there was zero chance of breaking anything. Just a 1900lb weight in motion. (gotta love physics)

It was dirty and trashed at that point, didn't matter. Had my son with me. With all the in and out all day and camping, mud was everywhere.
