I have a problem replacing my Pitman Arm on my 4runner. I have a 92 Runner and I bought a new pitman and tried to put it on and it didn't fit.... Ok double check P/Ns and I try another new one. Still doesn't fit!! What gives? Steering box looks never changed. Is there some secret or something? It is a PS 4wd truck.

Pics? It won't go on super easy because it is a press fit, but it should at least slide on.

Yes, please define "doesn't fit". Last time I removed a pitman arm I did it with a cutoff wheel, and when I installed the new one I did it with a bucket of antiseize and a 4lb sledgehammer.

but, that sounds like it may be correct. they will usually have to be pulled on with the nut.

Yup. The way that pitman goes on there gives new meaning to the term "press fit"... use a large socket and a BFH to get it on far enough that you have several threads showing, then put the nut on there and start cranking. You'll want a cheater bar on your socket driver. Lots and lots of antiseize will help it go on smoother and come off easier next time.

Got the pitman arm halfway up the steering box with hitting it and using an impact gun, she will not go any further
yep, that pic looks normal.
as long as you can get it on far enough to use the lock washer, it should be good.
you will NEVER get it back to the original location.
I have a very strong impact here at work, and mine is still about 1/8" lower than original. and I REUSED the pitman arm. so its the same one, not a new/different part.
im not sure what the factory uses, but its much stronger than we have access to.
