Place to buy new AC system? 1993 4Runner

I am going to take my 4Runner to mexico and leave it there. It is HOT and Humid there... so I want the AC fixed (mostly for family/baby/etc...). It is a 1993 6Cylinder. 200k on the clock. Still running ok!

I need an entirely new AC system. Everything is shot- hoses, Compressor, etc...
And I'll need to convert it over to R134.

Does somebody sell a kit or all the parts, that are reputable and affordable? I know this is going to cost me...

It's going to cost you a lot in sure but if you need it then you'll have to spend it.

Give your local Toyota dealership a call they would mostly likely have it.

You don't show where you're from, so I can't say if there's a shop local to you, but there are many auto air conditioning companies that have retrofit kits for Toyotas. These are complete kits that are made to put a/c in vehicles that did not originally come with that feature. I have one of these in my '87 right now, had it installed back in '91 or '92, and aside from a broken line (from wheelin') and a couple of recharges, the unit still blows cold air.

Back then, I think I paid around 800 bucks, including installation, and it came with everything necessary, even the blue a/c switch in the dash.

I'd call every local shop to you and inquire if they are able to either get a complete retrofit kit that you can install, or have them do the whole thing for you. I can't imagine it being over a grand for the 4 runner, those kits cannot be in demand any more, and the 4runner isn't a super-hard one to install.

As an fyi, the compressor in mine is a Sanden unit, and its still going strong with zero issues.

I'm getting quotes of $1200. Ouch. I may have to skip it at that cost.

I need a compressor, condenser and a conversion kit.

Are there used parts or rebuild parts out there?
If so, the question is... will used parts be any good?

I looked into this a while back and decided it was not worth it. You definitely do not want to convert the stock equipment to R134. The newer refrigerant runs hotter and is less efficient. Your system was designed for R12, which is awesome, but you can't get it anymore unless you get lucky. I got lucky and found a guy willing to sell me his leftover R12, and I still decided it was not worth it. I cut the A/C belt and decided to suffer the summer months.
