Place to keep altimeter/inclinometer

I got a 1st generation 4runner altimeter and inclinometer. It is slightly bigger than the second generation altimeter. So, it fits right on the flat surface over the passenger air bag cover.

After looking at how the 3rd gen 4runner passenger air bag was deployed in many front end collisions, I see only the passenger air bag cover (surface) facing the passenger seat, (not the flat surface on the top of the dash) is open.

This really makes me to place the inclinometer on the top flat surface of the air bag cover. What do you guys think?

Putting it on the airbag cover might keep the airbag from deploying properly. It's not really a good idea to put anything anywhere near the airbag stuff.

I would say at that point you'd have yourself quite the projectile if the airbag ever deployed.

Yup. I'd disable the air bag if you're going to do that.
