How's my responding to another persons insult taking your quote out of context?

It seems pretty clear you are trying to convey a 'picked-on' narrative.
My comment which was partially quoted, and offered as friendly advice, didn't fit that narrative without being edited.
In the interest of full disclosure, I simply posted my full comment, and your post to another Member that prompted it.
For the record: The shooter/murderer is obviously deranged. Hopefully he will be held accountable.

Eh to be fair I don't care if they call them terrorists, domestic or abroad; it's all mainly religious zealotry anyways.
That's not to say the entire Christian/Catholic or Muslim religion is at fault here entirely, its the zealots and individuals who decide that their god has called them to arms in some holy battle against the heathens and their interpretation of god's word is all the just cause they need. It's an age old battle that underpins large swaths of violence in human history, to try and act like this is a new thing or that it's some how endemic to one religious group vs. the next is just the media trying to drum up fear and viewers. Let's be realistic here, Fox is gonna beat their war drums and rile up the bat-shit crazy right wingers who are probably already one PBR can away from going on some delusional right-wing, religious, patriotic shooting spree already. But guess what? MSNBC and their liberal ilk are doing the same crap as well and those liberal nut jobs who are probably already on the edge from one too many micro-brewed, naturally sourced, organic hemp juice as well. The media in general these days is all about fear-mongering and taking advantage of the public for their own personal gain (be that to garner support for their political party and financial backers or just to get ratings). That's their shtick, it doesn't matter about getting the facts right as long as they get people to watch them. Unfortunately the people who do watch them occasionally are mentally ill, weak minded, and impressionable individuals who take their BS to heart and decide to go off and do something seriously stupid and often tragic for the rest of us.
It makes it easier and more comfortable for everyone to label it as something the don't like so that they can distance themselves from "that" group because "that" group does bad things unlike "my" group who is better than that. Well guess what? Mental Illness, Evil, and/or Stupid people are not exclusive to one group; they're everywhere...

And so it goes... the moderates/centrists continue living their lives, while the worked up extremists on both sides continue to tear the country apart.

It makes a difference. Since 9/11 there are several Constitutional protections, individual and collective, that are suspended when a given act is officially labeled "terrorism".
