Plasti Dip

Also, this is probably a dumb question...but can I plastidip my chrome grill to match my white paint job? I love the look of the color matched limited grilles.

Did the scoop, grille, lower bumper, and rear emblem.

Never seen the scoop done before. Looks good. Going to do this now, when the weather clears up.

Can you give me a quick how-to on plastidip'ing the emblems? Looks great.

Yeah for sure it's pretty simple and straight forward,,
1. Like anything your about to paint, clean it,you can pick up some denatured alchahol at a local hardware store or wall mart.

2. Tape off around the emblem put the tape about a inch from the emblem,,two or three strips of tape should be enough on each edge, don't worry too much about any over spray because it just rubs off after its dry.

3. Paint it with a few 3-4 should coats to ensure its fully covered, waiting 15-20 minutes in between to make sure it dries before the next coat.

4. After the last coat maybe wait 30 minutes to make sure it's fully dry so its properly cured and then pull the tape off and using your fingernail just scrap the excess plasti dip around the emblem enough and then you can peel it right off around the emblem but make sure when you do your pulling the plasti dip away from the emblem and it should just peel off perfectly! Super easy

Do it!!! Its like crack. Once you dip something, you cannot stop. I walked around for a few days with a can in my hand just looking for things to spray.

Before and after pics of the windown trim on my Sequoia (overlook those nasty faded pin stripes, those are gone now lol) Its been over a year and they still look that good, ive gone throgh brush and high pressure car washes and never had a problem.

I'm thinking about doing mine but I can't decide.

The center piece in the lower bumper was body colored. I removed that plastic grille and taped off the area and blacked it out. Piece of advice, you have to pull the tape off before the Plasti-Dip dries or else you'll just end up peeling it all off.

Thanks!! I learned that lesson the hard way with a friend of mine.
We plasti dipped part of the hood on his Polaris Razor. We had been told that it didn't matter if each coat dried as long as you pulled the tape while the last coat was wet... Well, that's kinda true. If you want a $h!tty paint line that will work.. It don't pull massive amounts of it off but it does NOT leave a clean line. ((At least that was our experience..)) lol

That looks pretty bad ass! And now I want to do mine, how much plasti-dip did you use? Any tips or tricks to help along the way?

Thank you :redface: and I used a total of 5 cans for all of the cladding. My best tip to you is make sure you properly tape off everything. I spent about 2 hours just taping and putting paper down to not have overspray. Spray in small coats. The first two coats almost look like it's not even on there but give it time. It's better to take your time

Had some time to kill so plasti-diped my headlights. They were getting foggy on the top from the sun, so here it is. Pretty happy how they look.

I've got the faded pin striping too. How did you remove it?

Yeah I was feeling bummed as I now have another major ticket item to fix....so I spent the week doing small mods like plasti-dip and window tint. It totally restored my love for this rig and made my rig stand out against the 20+ Runners in my neighborhood. I've posted before and after pics

This looks really nice! Did you just get tint added to the front windows and what percent?

Did you plastidip the side emblems as well or just remove them?
