Plated Bumper or Stock OEM 99+ ???

What happens if you rear end someone or hit a large animal? You don't need to be wheeling to hit something. :driving:

I went with tube vs. plate mainly because it increases so much more approach angle over a plate bumper. And, its much lighter in weight. Mine weighs 68lbs with the stinger. Most plate bumpers (Like an ARB) weigh around 150lbs.

Very true about hitting a large animal or rear ending someone, but the same can happen while driving the wifes Impala, I'm not going to put a plate bumper on that....just in case.......

I'm not saying I'm never going to get a plated bumper, but right now it's not feasible. I drive this truck daily over 70km's per day, and well....the gas mileage already sucks as it is! I'm thinking once I get the Impala paid off, I may get myself a 2005 or newer Taco and make the 4Runner my full time Toy, at the point, I'll probably get the plated bumper! :naughty:

I'm really happy to have gotten so much input on this matter! I originally thought that the plated bumper would be cheaper to buy, and although $700.00 is a steal in these parts, FREE is even better! I'm getting that Taco bumper for nothing! If it bolts up and looks good.....great! If not, I can get a 99+ 4Runner bumper for around $200.00 so that is a deal as well!

i know my 400 dollar tube bumper will save me thousands of dollars if i hit something vs the stock bumper

Alot of factors play into that tho'. Speed being the biggie,what you hit and angle you hit something and yes at speeds under 40mph the steel bumper will save things but much over that and damage will occur and with our older trucks it won't take much to total the vehicle but if one was in my budget I'd have one.

I couldn't have said it any better. I'm liking the idea of the plated bumper, but right now, it's a little out of my budget. I'm thinking hopefully if I get a bonus this year from work, and maybe Income taxes :naughty:
