Platinum spark plugs

Has anyone had issues with platinum plugs on 4.0 engines? I installed new NGK platinum plugs and my gas mileage went down from 18.3 to 14.5. All other conditions remained the same. Can anyone recommend any other type spark plugs? http://im.toyota-4runner.org/images/smilies/usa2.gif

4.0 calls for "regular" spark plugs. Stick with what the manual calls for.

Platinum plugs are not required. At price of $20 each vs $3 of non-platinum I would not pay for those. Also, do not gap platinum plugs or electrode will be ruined.

At 108k I changed the OE plugs for Denso iridium power plugs and felt a definite bottom end response change and picked up at least 1mpg. They were only $8.30 each.
