Please Help!

My sister just recently bought a 1999 4Runner 3.4 V6, it has apporx. 90,000 miles on it, and it blew a rod clear out the bottom. She has only had the T4R for 37 days, and is 7 days and 100 miles over the warranty (ridiculous.. poor girl..). I would like to know if this is a T4R problem, or just badluck or bad care on her part.

I would also like to know the avg price on a new engine. Im guessing its somewhere around 5 grand. Also if you could please point me int he direction of a new short block, my father and i could just rebuild it ourselves for cheaper.

Any help is VERY appreciated, shes in the dark and on her own at the moment.

You are the first one I have heard of having a problem with that low of miles on a toyota motor. They are very good motors and will run for ever. Who ever you bought the car from must have known it was a problem. Best of luck fixing it.

yea, thats not common.

try over on yotatech for some help.. lots of engine rebuilds have been done over there.

all i can say is i would put a brick on the skinny pedal and let it run right into whereever she bought it from. i got 90k right now, and .:knock on wood:. dont think my motor is blowin any rods for atleast another 200k miles

I don't think that it will run into anything let alone move at all.....she threw a rod and blew the engine.....maybe just throw the brick through the window.

ya know, now that i look back on the question, i should have realized that. hmmmm.... brick through the window works also....

ive never heard of a yota engine giving up the ghost at 90,000 miles......................ever......... no matter what
