Please suggest some flexible brake hoses

I have been searching the forum in preparation for replacing the front and rear flexible brake hoses on my 1999 4runner. I have seen many folks suggesting steel braided hoses, and at least one person warning to only use rubber hoses, due to their slower failure pattern. I am a little confused which way to go. This t4r mostly sees paved and gravel roads.

Centric Brake Hose 950.44007 for front two. These are steel braided. Then the Sonoran Steel for the rear (agian steel braided). These are what I run on my 99 SR5 4Runner.

I use the Toytec front and rear extended rear brake line. They are also steel braided brake lines.

Maybe I missed something? Why replace the brakes lines with steel if your 4Runner only sees gravel roads at the worst? Not like they explode or something.

Toyota OEM brake hoses are superb quality. I suppose if you expect they'll get hit by fast-moving, sharp-edged debris, something else might be better?

IMO, not necessary to get stainless steel. I replaced my brake hoses with some Raybestos ones off RockAuto because they were old and started getting cracks. Note that the rear rubber line is 14.5". If you are lifted, you can get a line that fits a 1988 3.0 4Runner (from any parts catalogue) which will be 17".

I have been using whisler bearing company here in Denver for years for custom brake lines. They make me want ever I want. Stainless braided lines. Always a quick turnaround, sometimes as I wait! Also, obviously a great place to source bearings too.
