Polar Vortex Cold caused propblems

Exact same

My grille did the exact same thing; been considering options and thinking about going with black Bedliner spray after sanding/removing “chrome”.

The good news is

They say the Polar Vortex has killed 95% of the Stink Bug population.

I know...
not a GREAT thing...
but I'm just trying to find a positive thought.

wish it would kill ticks. im surprised in MA in february (been pretty cold and nasty too) i have had 3 juvenile or deer ticks on me after dog walks. some bs because ill no doubt have 5 on us after each walk come spring time.

Probably related to the vortex and the cold the midwest has been experiencing, but my 4runner gave the signal for a failing battery while I had it in the Geico repair shop for a side swipe that some idiot did this past weekend.

Got the damage fixed and it looks great now.

When I went to pick it up, the rear wiper swiped once. I took it to Autozone and they tested the battery as failed. ~65% charge.

Spent yesterday researching batteries and this morning got the new one installed. Batteries plus confirmed the same as AutoZone.

New battery is a X2Power (re-branded Northstar) AGM group 24F.

Was able to pick it up for $260 all in. They had a 20% of coupon on their website.

5 year warranty no questions asked sold me.

My truck starts up instantly now. I've never heard the starter spin so fast!

Highly recommend.

That is a quality battery for sure, should last you!

For the V8, the block heater replaces one of the freeze plugs. It's hard to buy the correct part (not sure if they still make it), and it's extremely difficult to install. I got mine to work eventually, the hardest part was getting the freeze plug out. But I think I read at least one person here attempted to install and couldn't get it to fit in any orientation, so had to find a replacement freeze plug. The instructions have conflicting information about which freeze plug to use, and it might depend on what year your engine is from.

I got mine from Toyota of Dallas, of all places. They have the V8 block heaters in stock.

I haven't installed mine yet... the plan was to wait until I replace the timing belt since I'll be replacing the coolant then anyway. I wonder why it makes a difference which freeze plug is used -- unless it has something to do with the thickness of the coolant jacket so that the element can fit inside.
