Poll: Change my color scheme?

Hey guys, I need some opinions. I am thinking about changing the color scheme on my 4Runner. I like the bronze accents that I currently have, but am thinking about changing them to a dark green metallic color. I really like green, and love all the imperial jade mica colored 4Runners on this site. I can't justify repainting my 4Runner to IJM green, so I think this may be the next best thing. I am thinking about using Duplicolor Metal Specks spray paint, as it is pretty close to IJM green and readily available.

Here’s a pic of the color:

These are the parts that would be painted green (with everything else being black):
- All emblems (rear hatch, grille & sport badges)
- Background mesh of my ongoing grille mod.
- Hood scoop mesh
- Front bumper insert mesh
- Front and rear D-ring shackles
- “Beadlock” rings on wheels

So do you think this green on black would look good? Or would this look too colorful or blingy? Remember, I’m an older guy, and the last thing I want is for it to look ricey. Opinions please….

On the black paint I don't know if the dark metallic green would be that noticeable. I have an IJM 4runner and it looks black from far away.

I think the bronze looks awesome but I also understand the desire to switch things up.

My opinion... It looks GREAT the way it sits!!! I say don't touch a thing, but that's just me

Other opinion thoughts... Personally, I would shy away from painting the hood scoop mesh. That just seems like it would be a little too "blingy" for me. I probably wouldn't paint the other grill mesh pieces either.

I'd agree with this. I think some contrast would help break up the solid black for sure (as the current bronze color does), but less is more when it comes to accents in my opinion.

I voted "NO", not that it would look awful. I think your 4Runner looks fantastic and tastefully done just the way it sits. It's an exceptionally well thought out build. It's apparent you have a tasteful eye, I'm sure whatever you do it will look right.

Thanks for all the comments so far. Interestingly, the poll is split pretty evenly, yet everyone that has posted comments is basically saying no. It would be interesting to get some comments from those saying yes.

Wow! You guys are great! Thanks so much. I actually think it looks pretty darn good. I think I'll buy a can of that paint and spray some test plaques. Then hold them up to the truck and see how they look from different distances and angles.

Depending on how dark the green comes out, you may not notice it that much.

What I would do is paint front a day rear shackles. Leave them green for a couple weeks and see how you like the color combo.

Bumping this thread. I bought a can of the green metal specs. What I didn't realize was that this paint is somewhat translucent. The final color depends on what color is underneath it. So I've been experimenting. I bought several different shades of green spray paint to put under the metal specs paint. Then I cut several test plaques out of a scrap sheet of plastic I had laying around, and started painting.

Here are the results:

Results: Some were too dark, some were too light. One was just right (The second one from the left.)

I think I'm going to be doing this as soon as the weather warms up around here.
