Popping Speakers When A/C Kicks off

Just moved an after market stereo system from my 2008 to my 2007 4Runner. With the air conditioner running there is an audible pop sound that comes through the speakers each time the compressor cycles off. Silent when it kicks on. Doesnt matter what the volume is. Even pops when volume is all the way down. Tried hooking up another head unit and several other things. Even replaced my overdue battery today. Still pops and now the pop is louder. My local audio install guy (for 25 years) who performed the install is baffled. Thanks in advance for any advice or other things to try.

That sounds like a power wire issue, not a component problem. Is the power lead running alongside the A/C power wire, or another power lead from the harness? Maybe a filter will help, like what they use for alternator whine. Also, is your power wire crossing your signal cables (signal from one stereo component to another), because that can transfer fluctuations in the power to your speakers. I'm NOT an expert, but I've done a few extensive installations for myself, and have read up a lot on them. Best of luck!

Put a 6 amp diode across the compressor clutch wires. The stripe needs to face the power side of the compressor. The collapse of the field needs to go back to power when the clutch is off. Hope this helps.

No more speaker pop

Thank you FireTruckGuy. Your 6 amp diode fix resolved my issue. The audio install guys were standing around with raised eyebrows after they no longer heard the popping sound.

Is there anyway you guys could do a tutorial on how to fix this, I'm having the same problem and didn't know where to start until I found this thread but I have no idea of where and how to install the diode or where to buy it even, so my apologies for my ignorance but I guess you have to start somewhere.
I'd appreciate it if someone here could help me out.

DaveT4R, Here is a photo of the installed diode. Thought I would post it here for the next forum member that needs it. I didn't do the install so I cannot give you any directions other than what the others have already stated above. ^^

Has anyone tried this on the v-6? It only started after installing an aftermarket deck. The stereo shop guy is stumped too. We've done everything. I was hoping to try this but it doesn't look so easy to get to on the v-6.

I know this thread is quite old but were you able to get this installation done on your own? I'm having the same problem with my 06 4Runner and would like to give this a shot. The pictures help but I'm a bit stumped on what equipment I would need and perhaps a light tutorial as my regular car audio guys don't seem to have the experience with something like this either.
