Portable Heater for Truck Camping

Looking for a solution for camping in my T4R in cold conditions. I have a sleeping bag that is super warm, but I have to be completely inside of it, which is annoying. Is there anyone here who has used a 12v heater inside of their 4Runner?

EDIT: Looks like all the 12v heaters are pretty garbage. Looks like I'll have to go with one that runs off AC and install a second battery.

I have used a small propane buddy heater in our tent with great success. Not sure about how that would go inside a truck. I do know that the small tanks won't last all night, but it is great for a few minutes before bed and after you wake up to warm things up.

I would think that if you had a good metal shelf or table to sit it on then you would be fine with something like that.

Be careful about using propane. One of the local guys up here was using a propane heater when camping in a tent. It went out in the night. He woke up in the morning and didn't think about it, unzipped the tent and went to light his cigarette. I'm sure you can figure out what happened from there.

A bit too risky for me. I don't want to play with gasses. I order a good AC ceramic heater off Amazon. I will just place it smart and use it during the night.

This is the only one I use in an enclosed area...has safety shutoffs, low oxygen,etc. I would NOT leave it run unattended while sleeping. Run it before bed, wake up and run it for a half hour, and in the morning. Obviously crack the window a bit.

You won't find anything electric, and the only thing I would even think about doing would be a small Honda generator a small 750/900 watt heater. Anything will kill your battery(s) quickly.

Another option is a Webasto heater, but I have yet to see one installed in our trucks...but anything is possible with time and money.

that little guy is cool! that would be nice for car camping/ large tents with proper supervision while sober.

Nope. We all laugh about it too. As far as I know he only blew up the tent.
