Possible to Move Vehicle with No Springs/Struts?

Hi All,

Very random question. I have a 99 4Runner in my backyard but I want to take the 99 tall rear springs and front struts off completely. For those of you who lift, you'll understand why. They are in great shape.

However, I need to tow the remains of the vehicle to a scrap yard soon so it needs to be able to go on a trailer, which I think means it needs to be on wheels still (please someone correct me if there's a way to do this without keeping the wheels on).

So my question is, If I remove the rear coils (rear shocks still on) and the front struts/springs, can I still move the vehicle? Or will that just jamb the tires up in the wheelwells and just get stuck?

Probably still roll sitting on the bump stops. Take some pics.

Could always jamb some little logs or 4x4's in there to hold it up.

I would think it would jam up like you say, but if it's going to the scrap yard why not jam some 4X4s in their place or weld in a couple bars to hold it up? Just keep the kids off it!

You could also take an angle grinder or oscillating multi-tool to the wheel wells and fenders so the tires don't get stuck. A bit of a pain, but definitely safer than the center of gravity shifting when you are towing it on a trailer and the blocks falling out.

It'll be fine. That's what the bump stops are for.

Check out all those pics of wheels fully 'stuffed' and you'll se there is still room. (and yes, I already have done this personally on my old parts truck)

Absolutely....just drag/push it on the trailer with wheels on. If you want to do it without wheels...chain two logs to the lower A Arms and inside rear hubs to axle. cut ends of log at an angle for skids. Drag it right on and off a car trailer. If dragging on pavement lag bolt the chain to the side of the log in an X so you have four bolts.

They should be on top of the lower Arms, toward the front and near the inner pivot bolt.
