Possibly parting out 88 4Runner

Wanted to get everybody's thoughts on parting out a 1988 4runner.

I have the motor pulled and am rebuilding it but I think I want an automatic instead of the 5 speed so I was thinking about parting out everything on the truck except for the motor. Is it worth it as far as time/money goes?

Yeah, it's normally worth it, as long as you have the time to invest in pulling all the parts and dealing with all the guys who will ask about this or that without bothering to check if you've sold it already and then disappear after you quote them shipping. :D

Having said that, I've got an a340f auto and would like to swap to a w56 manual. You're not too far away, maybe we could work something out?

Well another reason why I'm considering parting this out is the body does need some work and I don't know if I want to put the time and money into it so I would just finish building the motor out and look for another one that's already an auto. There's one that is on CL this morning and the engine seized on him. He wants way to much for it though at $1300.

Thanks for the trade offer though! If you would still be interested in the 5 spd tranny, let me know.

I probably don't have the cash you'd want, that's why I was hoping for a trade. :D

What color is your interior? I am looking for interior door skins.

What color is the exterior? I may be interested in a few things. Also, what condition are the seats in? I'll be moving to Colorado this month so there is a good possibility that I will be bugging you for some parts if you decide to part it out.

I'm looking for the column "4runner" decals in perfect condition, overhead vinyl in good shape, and seat belts if theyre in good condition.. if the door vinyls in really really good shape i'd be intrested aswell

Awesome that you are moving to CO! Definitely will have to go wheeling when I get mine back together.

The color of exterior is white. There isn't much rust on the body at all although some parts of the body have some damage on them. The front seats aren't in good condition but the backs are descent, just dirty/dusty.
 
It sounds like there is some pretty good interest with me parting this out so I'll probably end up going ahead with this. I won't be able to start pulling parts until next weekend. I'll post pics of everything as well so everybody can see the condition of everything.

This will be my first parting out I've done so be patient but I'll try and get parts to people when they ask ASAP! I will be willing to ship the parts that I can.

The tranny is good, just dirty-will sell the transfer case with it as well.

Everything will go on the truck except for the motor although some components may be available.

Stay tuned and I'll get pics up this week!
 
I'll be in colorado this month if all goes well. If you still have your hood when I get there I will definitely buy it from you! Mine is a little crunched from a wheeling mishap two weekends ago.
