Power seat making noises when moving

I have a 2003 limited with power seats. When I move the seats forward and back they make a noise that just started about a month ago. The driver side is worse. They still move fine but just make the loud noise. Any ideas? I wish I could upload an audio file of the sound.

Mine did this before a little WD40 on the track fixed that right up. Try that first hopefully its nothing more.

I read this thread yesterday and reminded me I needed to WD40 mine also..noise has been getting worse. Sprayed the tracks from front and rear, almost got it.

I'd like to do a much better job, with better spray lubes that I have. I assume this is a worm drive....any best point to get access to the screw rod? Prefer not to blindly spray and have excess drippings on carpet under there, etc.

I don't guess taking the seat out is necessary? Is that a difficult task?

Noise on both driver's and passenger's power seat

The 2008 4Runner is actually my daughter's, but she was home for the weekend. Asked me to look at her seats, as they were loud when moving fore and aft. I figured a little bit of white lithium grease on the threaded rod would do it, but it didn't change much at all. Any thoughts? Maybe just a little spray lube on the front nut/washer assy on each of the threaded rods in front of the tracks? Any other ideas? Not easy to find much on this on this thread overall.

Debris in the tracks is my guess. It's incredible what ends up underneath seats and in the tracks.

I had to replace the worm drive on our '99 Sienna. Our kid kept leaving stuff behind the seat and when the seat moved front and back it eventually stripped the worm drive. It wasn't hard to replace but the drives were hard to find and expensive. They are made of nylon and strip very easily.

It's been a while but as I recall the worm drive rotates around a pivot point and the nylon part moves forward-backward. If you put lithium on them and it's still making noise you probably have to lube the rotation points for the worm drives (1 on each side of the seat). I would use a spray lithium. You may have to remove the seat to get at this but other than being heavy, the Sienna's was fairly easy to remove. Of course, it has a large door behind the driver's seat.
