The typhoon that slammed into the Philipines was one of the largest storms ever recorded. Reports of over 10,000 dead. Utter devastation on a mind-boggling scale. The U.S. Army is on the way! Let us take a moment to say a prayer for the wonderful, warm-hearted people of the Philipines! If u can, donate to the reputable relief agencies.

It really is Danny. These ppl had very little to begin with and now have absolutely nothing. Hug your loved ones a bit tighter...

Agreed. I don't want to sound political here because this isn't the time or place, but I'd love to see the US donate a large chunk of money and relief efforts to help out. Our hurricane season fizzled, so we should have lots of supplies on hand; shelter, food, meds, communication.

No amount is too little

As a Filipino, I thank all good-hearted Americans and the American government for being one of the first to respond even before the the first rainfall dropped. At the moment, there are numerous C-130's and MV-22 Ospreys already working non-stop bringing relief goods, medical supplies and ferrying evacuees back to the capital city of Manila. The USS G. Washington and its escort ships are on its way. In a surreal coincidence, the USS G. Washington will dock at the Leyte Gulf, the site of Gen McArthur's return to the Philippines to make good of his promise "I shall return". This is Leyte Landing 2.0!
My countrymen need your help. Numerous charities have been setup to accept your help.

No amount is too little. Skipping your latte this afternoon and instead donating $5 to this charities will go a long way. If you can't give, they also need a lot of prayers.

Very sad. From what I read this was not a surprise though, they had it pegged as the 'worlds strongest' storm. Why did the people not leave? I know there is no way to leave now, but you can't wait to the last minute either. Time and time again we see this, costing lives and money. Why not save both, be proactive and get these people out BEFORE the storm hits! Just a thought.
