So my 2000 sr5 4x2 says 225/75/15 in the door like 90% probably do. My question is this. I bought it with 31/10.5s on it. They need replacing and I have no desire to shove big tires under a two wheel drive. Problem is that the rims are 15x7s and no 225 75 I've found will fit a 7" rim. Most 3rd gens I see run 16s which look factory. I know how to change section widths and aspect ratios to get a similar size tire. The spare is a firestone that fits fine. It has about 8.5 inches of section width hitting the road. So if you were me, and you kept the stock rims what tire would you run? Looking for a good ride and mpg.

265/75/16 is the best IMO. They are bigger than stock and fit the truck nicely.

I had the same situation as you on my 97... I understand you want to stay close to original, but the 31 10.5 r 15 is a nice size. Only a bit bigger than your 225's, plenty of cheap options for you too. The above mentioned general at is a very good inexpensive tire.

Also, be sure to pay attention to load rating when browsing. IIRC, our trucks come with either "C" or "P" tires. While this does translate to reduced load capacity and reduced sidewall rigidity, it does give much increased comfort.
For example, 95% of the forum members here who run 33" or 35" tires run an "E" rated tire. This is a 10 ply, LT tire which has a very tough sidewall, and high weight carrying capacity. As I prefer a plusher ride, I'm on the lookout for a "D" rated (8 ply) 33" tire.
Something worth considering when chasing a "stock-like ride".
