Pretty Good deal?

I have been posting a lot on this forum as of late and the community here has been nothing but helpful. I am in the process of diagnosing a couple of potentially expensive fixes on my '04 v6 sr5 and parallel to that have been pricing out newer-used 4runners just in case. I came across this:

2008 Limited 4x4
v8 with 77k miles
leather, aftermarket nav, sunroof, backup camera

Asking just under $18k for it - KBB/NADA show it at least around $20-21k retail. Title is clean, carfax is clean. I put the VIN into the Toyota owners site and added it as "my own" vehicle and the maintenance looks good - normal check up and rotors/pads replaced @ 30k miles. Working for an Insurance company at one point I know that not all accidents are reported to carfax (espcially comprehensive claims like hail) so I would need to look at the body panels/frame to make sure.

Anything with the v8 or this model year I should know about? I searched the forum and looks like outside the timing belt/water pump being replaced with maintenance, no other large/$$ issues issues?

Could be wrong but I'm pretty sure the V8's have a header issue (not 100% if you are clear with the '08, but it is fairly common in the 4th gens). She will start knocking on ya. Definitely can be pricey.

An '08 V8, 4x4 w/77k on the clock? What are you waiting for? I am not aware of the "header" issue and I know that would not stop me from buying it. I also know that it would NEVER stop the other V8 owners here on T4R.org from purchasing their V8's! I say DO IT!!!!!!!!

It's gone!! Guess when you find one like that you need to jump on it. I'd like to hear from more of the v8 guys to get their opinions on that engine if possible. My buddy has it and loves it. Thanks!

Hard to beat the torque of that V8. The way I look at it is this, if you have the V6, for just a few dollars more in gas you could have V8 power. Both are great engines.
