For those that don't know, I inhereted this t4r from my father in law after he lost a battle w/ diabetes and MRSA. I've changed a few things, I added a before and after pic.


Also, I feel for you northerners that have to deal w/ snow, ice and salt. Havent waxed her yet, just a wash and I can see my reflection pretty good.

Notice the purple tint... was a pain the in the ass removing it..

Man I started to remove the pinstripe on my other one, but the clear coat started coming up with it. Im afraid to remove this one Even w/ a heat gun and all that...


Have you used that tool before? Does it just grind away the pinstripe?

I used it when I de-badged it. It took the grey toyota adhesive right off! My clearcoat is pretty thin too, so. I don't heat it or anything, just take a drill. I also have removed a pinstripe from a boat a long time ago, but it's clearcoat was pretty thick.

I just bought 2 pinstripe eraser wheels on amazon to take off my pinstripe.

Worked like a charm and didn't hurt the clearcoat. This was on a 1990, so the stripe was 23 years old (from build date).

When you use it, start at a corner and take off the top 1/3rd of the stripe, then take off the 2/3rd, and then take off the remaining on the last pass. Keep the tool speed down to avoid burning the paint and use light pressure.

You can use a die grinder, but I used a battery powered nut driver for lower speed and better torque.

This will take off both the vinyl AND the adhesive, but I wiped it down with some Goo-Gone when I was done. All in all, it took about 45 minutes.
