Price this 2001 for sale to private party?

Location - Washington DC
Year - 2001
Miles - 166k
Condition - Engine great, overall cosmetics good (typical dings/dents)
Features - SR5, AWD, Leather, Moonroof, Roof Rack, Running Boards
*Big Issue* - Rusting out underneath in one area near the muffler (see picture...posted on this previously...welder said ~$800 ballpark to fix)
*Small Issues* - Fuel gauge doesn't work, wheel bushing needs replacement

Thanks - Prices estimates online (KBB, Edmunds, etc.) for these 4Runners are all over the place. Then I look at Craiglist and people are listing for $4K+ (albeit without the rust problem, but with other issues).

And yes I am disclosing the rust

I don't think I'd pay that much with the rust issue, unless the rest of the truck is immaculate and up to date on the major fail points. Hate to say it OP, sorry.

The fuel gauge not working will scare off more people than you think. I think that due to the fact it's got a good engine it's at least worth $1500 since you might get a buyer who would just want the parts and lower mileage engine off of it. I agree, $2000 would be a bit optimistic. $4000 is not going to happen by any stretch of the imagination though, but I think you knew that much at least.

Thanks everyone. I have a family member that has always wanted it and was trying to figure out a fair price then discount it fairly well. I'll tell them $1,000.

Around here any structural frame rot [ non factory frame holes] makes the vehicle instantly fail state inspection. If the muffler side is rotted out the other rear arch is too or extremely thin.

So a price here would be $500 to $1k max. As when the gas tank gets pulled to fix the driver side, the gas tank, filler tube and brake lines to rear are probably have rust spots on them.

Rust is something people in CA won't touch. They literally don't understand it.

I had a mechanic in Florida once ask me if my New Hampshire car had been "underwater."

I actually went to a welder and he said it could be fixed for ~$800. He said he sees it all the time in these 4Runners - rust around the muffler side area. Didn't seem like that big of a deal to him.
