Pricing a Built Out 4Runner for Sale

Just curious for those that have sold a 4Runner that was pretty well built out how you priced it. I realize parting it out would probably have a better return, but I don't want to do that.

Am I basically looking at blue book for a dealer trade in? If a private sale, how much do aftermarket products increase value, if at all.

If you find someone that wants exactly what you've done to it, you could probably get a decent return. Otherwise mods really don't add anything to the value, and could actually diminish it. If I were looking at used vehicles I would rather have one stock.

You’ll have better luck selling it without the mods. We are a small group of enthusiasts that can appreciate the mods and know what they’re worth.

Keep in mind that YOUR T4R is customized to YOUR liking. This goes for any vehicle.

Try posting at Expedition Portal. Built rigs, when done right, sell for good prices there.

I would part it out. I think most of the time no matter what the vehicle. You are usually better off parting it if you want to maximize the money out of it. At least from my experience with modded cars.

No ones wants a built rig , they say they do and will post on here ..”wow nice rig, wish I had the money” but that’s it. Majority of buyers are looking for a stock suv so they can drive daily without problems to soccer practice. What we do if for ourselves and you will never ever get what you put in to it back. You will sell it faster stock, period

With your mods, I would try to go private party obviously. Unfortunately your 4runner isnt custom enough to get back what you put into it. Im guessing you might get 10-20% back tops with your list of mods.

Thanks Danny! No plans set in stone yet, just contemplating a bigger vehicle with more room and towing capacity. My family and I travel a lot - and even with my wife's GX we routinely run out of space. Maybe a Land Cruiser? Who knows, we shall see.

You looking to get into towing a trailer? I know a guy who used to have an FJ who also had a full size superduty truck with an 8ft bed and all. He tows a camper on longer journeys where his now 4runner, he got rid of his FJ, just isnt adequate.

Thanks! And yes, would be towing a fifth wheel. Will probably be looking at a LC and some truck options. All depends what I can squeeze in the garage.
