Prinsu Accesories?

Hey guys, I’m leaning towards a Prinsu over a FR because I like the look and the price is obviously better. That said, they don’t offer anything in the way of a cross bar for surfboards/SUP’s. Meanwhile, FR sells everything under the son (for $$$.)

Has anyone solved this? Or do you know of some universal mounts that might work? I messaged Prinsu quickly on Instagram and he said “oh..I don’t know. Not many waves in CO.” Lol.

Anything 1/4" will work, or simply use 1/4" carriage bolts and make or adapt whatever you want. They suck now that CBI bought them out and I don't see any real urgency for them to improve or care any more about the product then they currently do.

I have a Prinsu and surf. I bought some Yakima racks (https://www.yakima.com/supdawg) off CL and they fit the standard bars fine.

no he means 1/4 fasteners.

so basically, you buy whatever accessories you want, and throw out the fasteners, and go to home depot and buy 1/4 inch carriage bolts, nuts, washers, etc.....

cuz the prinsu rack can only fit 1/4 inch fasteners..


Also, there are no accessories made specifically for prinsu, but its not hard to adapt other brands to the prinsu rack.

If you haven't brought the roof rack look at RPM fab( http://rpmfab.com) rack it's designed and price like Prusu,(they have a sale going on 15% off from now to 1/1/19) but build better (thicker side rails better mounting system). It's also still a family business.

Do NOT go Prinsu! I’m waiting on my Southern Style Offroad rack to get delivered to replace the paperweight... uh, I mean Prinsu, that I made the mistake buying the first go around.

The best accessory for a prinsu rack is a trash can.

Save yourself the trouble and look elsewhere.

Im close to pulling the trigger on a Prinsu or RPM. What are the issues with the Prinsu? Is it just quality? Ive heard mixed reviews on Prinsu/CBI fab work...

From what I've seen browsing around on here, it seems there have been quality issues after Prinsu was bought out/taken over. I bought my 3/4 rack a few years ago (pre-takeover I guess?) and have no complaints.

prinsu is a pretty cool designed rack but it has no aftermarket support (accessories), crappy customer service (even back then), crappy lead times (when i bought it), and tends to ship you the wrong installation hardware.


Other than that, the rack itself is good, lol.


If i would do it again, i'd go with a front runner or rhino rack, mainly for the accessories and modularity.

I got my Prinsu 3/4 in 2015. To this day after mounting RTT's, Maxtraxx, Christmas trees, Rotopax's there has been zero issues. Then again, I got it when it was a one man operation when the former owner, Zach routinely picked up his cell when you needed his help.

Exactly, the original/older racks, like mine are great!

And some of these other racks that are being mentioned are new to the market and have yet to be vetted in long term durability and use so people are going out on a limb and recommending stuff as better just based off of it being an alternative. Some of these racks are down right hideous looking too, the SSO being one of them IMHO. In terms of looks and low profile it doesn't get better than Prinsu. If durability and in-house accessories are what you are after then the Frontrunner wins, but it sits up high and looks like a folding table sitting on top of your truck. Deicide what it right for you and be happy, but I would recommend you stick with an established and reputable company.

I know nothing of them, never seen one in person, nor do I know anyone that owns one. Just a quick search and looking at their website it appears to be a cheaper knock-off of the Prinsu. Read up on the posts about them, if I were looking I'd pass, but that's just me.

They shipped it with the no hardware, then they sent the wrong hardware, then they sent the wrong hardware again. Once I finally got enough wrong hardware to make it work, it was half and inch difference in height left to right, the “flat” platform was was actually concave from end to end, the pointy finger thing at the front hit the roof on one side, one of the holes to mount the crossbar wasn’t actually fully cutout, and the overall fit and finish and design was just flat out bad, very generic get it close and make it work type of design to it. They said the rails were defective and sent new ones which only addressed a couple of the issues and those were missing powder coat in places which they said was “normal”. Plus from the very beginning I ordered it with an extra crossbar, they never sent it and refused to refund it. It took months and involvement from the better business bureau to get my money back. I have nothing positive to say about the product or the company.
