Tire shop said same thing and a trusted person at off road warehouse did too. 4wheelparts said that I need the lugnut with the extra step before the 60 degree chamfer.
I also saw a few post when I searched that said similar. Some were fine with just 60degree chamfer others had the extra step.
Guess I’ll just check frequently and torque as needed if they loosen up

I can see why you are hesitant...
I have another truck (Ford F150) that uses a tappered lug just like that, and there is a matching chamfer on the rim itself, but it is an alloy rim not steel.
Considering our factory stuff is hub centric, and the OEM lugs have that step and a flat washer, I would double check before calling it good.

Are the wheels hub centric(looks like it)? I have had pro comp wheels on my jeeps and they had tapered holes like the factory wheels. I would think those wheels are hub centric and require flat lugs like the factory.
It would probably work as is but you would likely see some wear on the nuts as they dig into the corner.
Can we get a full rig shot with those wheels? I love the D windows and considering them for my 99.

The taper was just covered by the factory powder coating. After a few weeks and taking the wheels on and off multiple times the wheels have not become loose and I just did a weekend in the local desert and did 300 some odd miles of driving and the nuts stayed torqued.
