Pro Gun Quote

It's obvious you are trigger happy, you said you would blow someone away no questions asked if they came onto your property. If I shot every person that has trespassed on property I owned I would be a mass murderer. I am shocked you've never been called out before on being a pompous buffoon until I came along. Since I've been here you have called some dudes wife an idiot, made grossly biased erroneous post such as this thread, told someone subcompact pistols are notoriously unreliable, jeep wranglers are the end all to beat all off road vehicles and that CVT's are actually reliable. Then question my reading comprehension, I question your life comprehension. Here is some Bengay for your body pumper

NOW, I REMEMBER YOU! All this time, i had no idea who this guy was...until now. OMG, you carry a grudge so darn long like a little girl with panties twisted! Hahaha.

Ok, lets address your "concerns" for me:

1. Shooting someone on my property...let me remind you what i actually wrote:

But, if a guy jumps my fence and enters my house unwelcomed, then yeah, that guy will get blasted to no man's land!

I have highlighted the important stuff since it clearly went over your little head! Note, i wrote house, not property. You may want to read it again to fully understand the context. Yes, this is the actual original quote. So, yeah, if you have someone entering your house unwelcomed repeatedly (from your mass murderer statement), then maybe you need to...uhhh...lock the door and move to a better neighborhood or else someone may think that your property is a corner under a street light. :D

2. Calling dude's wife an "idiot" per your words (not mine)...you mean this: http://www.toyota-4runner.org/off-topic/119544-needlestick-injuries-question-medical-folks.html

Well, yeah, this member's wife needs to be reminded of the importance of needles in her workplace. This member's wife need to be taught again the importance of such FOR HER OWN SAFETY (and thus her families')!!! Instead of blaming others in the medical field for careless accidents, we need to take care of our own safety so that we do not endanger others. Was i not clear in what i wrote? Yes, i could have been more passive and agree with him...and to what end? So that he continues to totally misunderstand the medical environment inside a hospital? How about his wife? Should we all agree that she is OK to continue doing such poor practices (and blaming others) and let her injure herself or others???????????? NO. I am not on this forum to roll over and play dead and agree with everyone. Forums are for discussions.

And rebelbowtie, tell me where i called this member's wife an "idiot"?? And tell me where what i wrote was wrong. PLEASE. I invite you. Trust me, every medical personnel who has work in a hospital will agree with me. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM. Why? Because i am very active in my workplace to teach my medical team to be on their feet.

3. Again, in THIS thread, what have YOU contributed that is factual other than girly little insults at me?????? I have. Have you??? You talk big, but provide nothing. SHOW ME.

4. Subcompacts unreliable...this one: http://www.toyota-4runner.org/off-topic/120315-carrying-piece-suggestions.html

Yeah, and?? Here is my quote again:
With my recent experiences, i think that subcompacts have too much compromise (e.g. reliability). :(

Note the sad face...and the bolded words. And if anyone has read my posts know what i have been thru with my subcompacts (factory returns a zillion times, etc.). Geez, which part of my quote was i insulting anyone or any gun for that matter?????? You are FOS rebelbowtie! :nono:

And yeah, S&W Shield has a problem...a problem that results in no bang. As an avid shooter like yourself, you don't see a problem with a gun failing to go into battery when pulled to shoot? Really?!

5. Wranglers. I guess that it came from him reading this thread: http://www.toyota-4runner.org/all-other-vehicles/96318-2012-wrangler-its-official.html

Yeah, and? I complimented on a member's new ride and yeah, i love wranglers, even when i had 4runner and G-wagen. Everyone knows that! :D But i will never own one because it is not family friendly enough and has average crash test scores. Does that mean that i must hate it since this is a 4runner forum???????? No, i appreciate it for what it is...an awesome OEM off-roader with great resale value...but poor on-road ride and average reliability. Am i wrong????? I would love to learn from you. Please educate me.

6. And now we come to the MAIN REASON WHY rebelbowtie is after me...the reason why this guy's panties are twisted...and the reason why now i remember him: http://www.toyota-4runner.org/5th-gen-t4rs/118221-interesting-conversation-re-honda-pilot.html

You guys can read it...of course, when rebelbowtie gets into a bind because of his limited knowledge, he goes all crazy on you despite him getting the FACTS wrong. Strange how he is the one that is calling me out on facts when he himself is confused easily. :nono:

Enough of this dude, you got OWNED...badly i must say. Ouch. Feel free to PM me in the future if you need some help with understanding stuff. Yeah, it is pretty clear who has issues here. It's you who follow me around. So Gay Sorry man, i have a beautiful wife and wonderful kids. But, good luck to you.

Thanks.

So rebel, if Thai is "trigger happy" and for that he's a "pompous baffoon" does that mean I am too based on my previous posts saying I'll have no problem doing the same thing as him, to shoot first & ask questions later if someone walks on my property & my life, property, or anothers is being threatened?

I think now you are getting to a stopping point bud, as you are going from an opinionated debate on what we think of gun laws, to an all out attack on a man who I might say myself, has been a great contribution to this forum. But you should also know, he does have opinions, like you and I, and he is not afraid to speak them. I've come to respect him and his views being that I've seen a lot of them. Rebel, you are a good guy, but I think a re-evaluation is needed at this point a flame war is all this is resulting to because of a disagreement on opinion.

from an opinionated debate on what we think of gun laws

I never understood what he was after...until now. Besides the two major FACTS/STUDIES i brought up, i have no idea what facts he wants in a thread all about opinions.

He's just a newbie...still trying to get used to my open & honest opinions. :bigok: Hey, he's a postwhore like me too! :hiding:

It's all good...i know that rebelbowtie just got offended by my facts in an earlier thread and carried a grudge. He is now just finding ways to get back at me.

Rebelbowtie, dude, lets just make peace. I now understand where you come from. No hard feelings on my end.

I am damn tired...being on-call and then writing that long ass post is making me tired...on well, another 4 days of call left....

First, I never said I "knew the law in all states." I said I knew more about the liability involved for taking action with a firearm without having any real authority to do so. In a nutshell, that scenario can be called "bad," and that's certainly not state-specific. The author of this quote, which you seem so enamored with, conveniently ignores this.

The fact that an attorney crawled up your a$$ means that your career path did not really protect you all that well...certainly not much better than the average law-abiding citizen.

Second, in regard to my example of being sued; apparently you have no idea how a lawsuit works. Anyone can still bring a lawsuit, and they ALL suck, but the results are very different when one is protected from it (like I was by my agency) vs. when someone has no protections whatsoever, yet is still trying to be a "sheepdog.".

The point that you're missing is that this guy did not mean that one should bear arms to be a protecting force.

Uh...yes he did. It's pretty clear what he meant, and obviously I'm not the only one who saw it that way. And once again, the fact that the role of the "sheepdog" has traditionally been ascribed to law enforcement makes it even clearer. I don't know if you are simply seeing what you want to see or truly don't understand the context of the quote, but I don't see how it could be any clearer.

But will i not bear arms to protect my family simply because i fear the lawsuits? No.

But, i will be using my weapon solely to protect myself (and family) primarily.

Please don't put words in my mouth, because I never said this or even hinted at it. I stated that your quote (and by association/support for it, you) have utterly missed the point regarding the liability involved in taking action with a firearm as a private citizen. That's still true and it's still very obvious. And the fact that you're now changing your tune to be more along the lines of self-defense speaks volumes. That was not what you advocated via the initial quote because that's not what this author is advocating.

BTW #1: I do make sure that i know how to use my guns. My wife also knows how to handle a firearm. And when my kids are old enough, i will also teach them the proper ways.

This matters how? Who really cares if someone knows how to use a firearm? This discussion is about when - and more importantly - when not to use it, and the potential repercussions for doing so.

Again, like RandyDaytona and RonMaiden (who also fears cross fire), just because you fear that the law (although clearly stated in what it covers and what it does not) may turn against you (due to lawyers), you will give up the right to defend your family against deadly forces applied by evildoers???

Where do I "fear" the law or have I advocated not defending oneself? Please show me. You know, you type a lot, make a lot of noise about facts and the law (which I must be missing, because I don't see it), and you put a lot of words in people's mouths. But none of that covers up for the fact that you misinterpreted a VERY clear quote, not only for what it contains, but also for what it does not.

Apparently we're not getting anywhere. I apologize to everyone witnessing this train wreck/horse-flogging. But an attitude like this author has (and which is so blindly being supported) poses a danger to everyone, especially law enforcement officers, who might come upon a crime scene and be shot by someone who has over-romanticized their role as a concealed weapons carrier.

I don't know how much more I can break this down to plant-life.

I agree with Thai.

All I will say is this. No law will ever take away my guns. I will always have them, and bear them via the Constitution, and for my own or anothers safety. I don't care who you are, if I myself or another feel threatened by you, or may die frok you, I will never hesitate to aim for the heart, or center eyes with a rifle or revolver. For without our use of good and viable self defense, we would all live in fear and would all sucum to it. I think Thai would agree with me, for we have a love for our freedom, rights, and safety, and will fight for it, I to the death.

This is not about being pro- or anti-gun, taking away guns, or guns being taken away from anyone.

It's about a quote which romanticizes gun-carrying and clearly appears to promote actions beyond the scope of self-defense, with no mention of liability or reality. And it's about someone else who just can't understand that.

I'd like to see a similar quote that simply supports sound judgement, avoiding bad situations, and being a good witness. But that wouldn't be nearly as 'cool' because there'd be no 'action' taken, no "wolves" involved, and no guns being used (reminds me of a bad 1980's action movie).

I think it's a sad aspect of our society that the actions depicted in the original quote resonate more with people than any of the apparently-unromantic things I just mentioned.

RD, dude, did you even bother to read the whole thread? Enamored? No, it is just a good quote.

Lawsuits? Suddenly, you're a cop AND a lawyer all at the same time!! Wow. And only a cop that has been screwed by a lawyer knows the law?? No protection you say? Dude, read up on Texas law before opening your mouth next time. Read up on the cases in TX where the law has protected the lawful use of handgun by a civilian. A few did go to trial, but resolved quickly. Now, i bolded & underlined the word for a reason...because i know that RD will take it out of context! Cops are protected to the extent of the department taking the initial heat. But, if the cop misuse his firearm, he is fried just like everyone else. And if use his firearm lawfully, then he/she still goes to trial. You think that cops are above everyone else in terms of being protected?? I doubt that a lawyer sees it that way.

When did i change my tone? Don't BS now because that is dumb!! In fact, search for ALL my posts regarding guns...and see WHERE I HAVE SAID WHAT YOU ACCUSE ME OF. Trigger happy? Show me the money! Go ahead. Where did i change my tone? You and rebelbowtie are full of crap.

It is also interesting that you decide to make your interpretation more valid than mine. Hmmm? Just because you're a cop in a different state? Are cops more educated than civilians? Are cops now educated in the mastery of the english language or the actual law of one's state? What education have you had that makes you seem to know more about this than me? BIG assumptions there dude.

What education level does a cop need to join up?

Remember, basically, only YOU and REBELBOWTIE agree...everyone else has agreed with my interpretation of the quote...or at least, agreed that it makes sense. And as we found out above, rebelbowtie is only going against me because of an old grudge. So, yeah, YOU ARE ALONE on this one. :D

Here is my quote again...and interestingly, you did not address it.
BUT, a sheepdog also does not roam the land to protect other sheeps nor other herds of sheeps. A sheepdog only protects his sheeps, his small group of sheeps. From the quote, i view it as me being the sheepdog, while my family is the sheep(s). I don't go and protect other sheeps from other herds...and neither does the sheepdog.

Or to a lesser extent, what if i am at the movie theater and the gunman who is sitting right in front of me pulls out his machine gun. I get down on the floor while he fires his weapon at the crowd. I pull out my little handgun and shoots him dead from close range with no risk of anyone being caught in a crossfire. Would i not be the sheepdog and the crowd be my sheeps in this example??

For both examples, taking away my fangs (lawfully obtained weapon and CHL via strict gun control) would put my family (and people in theater) at deadly risk against a lethal evil force.

THAT is the point of the quote IMO. It has nothing to do about taking up arms to defend your city or neighborhood against the bad guys.

Actually, the potential repercussion was brought up by you and has NOTHING to do with the quote. But, yeah, i am game with that. Your repercussions are well known by all educated civilians...you're not telling me anything new. You need to do more case studies in Texas. (Note: i won't claim to know case studies outside Texas because i am not familiar with them...again, assuming something that i don't know well is ridiculous and dumb...but that's just me.)

Where you fear the lawsuits?? Dude, have you read your own posts?! That is all you talk about! Yes, if you use your gun, then you may get sued. We get it. We know about it. But, that will NOT stop me from using my gun as last resort to defend myself and my family against a deadly force by evildoers.

Can you show me a case where a CHL person has shot a cop after an incident?? For every case like that, i can probably show you 10 more about cops misusing their firearm!! You talk previously about CHL person doing crime. How often is that? Show me statistics! And then compare that to muggers and robbers. Hell, compare that to cops misusing their power! This has been repeatedly confirmed that CHL folks are among the most law-abiding folks.

Show me.

RD, just FYI...

Both John B. Holmes, Harris County district attorney, and Glenn White, president of the Dallas Police Association, initially opposed concealed carry in Texas but have subsequently embraced it. Holmes said, "I . . . [felt] that such legislation . . . present[ed] a clear and present danger to law-abiding citizens by placing more handguns on our streets. Boy was I wrong. Our experience in Harris County, and indeed statewide, has proven my initial fears absolutely groundless." And White said, "All the horror stories I thought would come to pass didn't happen. . . . I think it's worked out well, and that says good things about the citizens who have permits. I'm a convert."

In order to obtain a Texas concealed handgun license (one of the strictest in the nation), a person must:

- Be at least 21 years of age (18 for members and veterans of the U.S. armed forces).
- Not have any felony convictions.
- Not have any pending felony charges.
- Not have any Class A or B misdemeanor convictions within the past 5 years.
- Not have any pending Class A or B misdemeanor charges.
- Not have any domestic violence convictions.
- Not have any pending domestic violence charges.
- Not be chemically dependent (have a history of drug/alcohol treatment or be a known drug user or alcoholic).
- Not be delinquent in child support payments.
- Not be subject to a court protective order or restraining order.
- Not have been diagnosed by a physician as suffering from a major psychiatric disorder.
- Not have been involuntarily hospitalized for psychiatric problems.
- Be a citizen or legal permanent resident of the United States.
- Be legally allowed to purchase a handgun, under state and federal law.
- Attend a 10- to 15-hour training course, including instruction on state laws pertaining to weapons and the use or threatened use of deadly force; nonviolent dispute resolution; handgun use, proficiency, and safety; and proper storage practices for handguns.
- Pass a written test over the material covered in the training course.
- Pass a 50-round shooting test that meets all but one of the minimum proficiency requirements for Texas law enforcement officers (the one exception being that officers must also complete a timed reload).
- Submit three notarized affidavits; two passport photos; and two official sets of fingerprints (one for the Texas Department of Public Safety and one for the Federal Bureau of Investigation). The fingerprints must be taken by an authorized agent of the state who must also verify and sign the passport photos.
- Pay a nonrefundable $140 application fee, not including the cost of the course, ammunition, fingerprinting, or notary fees. The total cost is usually about $275. Some individuals, such as active/retired law enforcement and military personnel qualify for discounted application fees.
- Wait up to 65 days for the completion of extensive state and federal fingerprint/background checks.

Texas concealed handgun licenses are valid for five years.

And yes, i met all those requirements. :)

A Texan is more than 20 times as likely to be struck by lightning as to be murdered or negligently killed by a Texas concealed handgun license holder. (Texas Department of Public Safety, five year average of statistics on criminal convictions of CHL holders, 2002-2006; U.S. National Weather Service, “Medical Aspects of Lightning,” Dr. Marry Ann Cooper)

RD, dude, did you even bother to read the whole thread? Enamored? No, it is just a good quote.

Yup. I did. And when someone starts a dedicated thread to showcase a quote, and even takes the time to prefaces it by calling out the "liberal groupies" who might disagree with it; then yeah, I'd say you're pretty hot on it. "Enamored" was a good choice, I think, even though you clearly don't understand it.

(sigh). No, never said that. I said I understand the reality of what is involved after a shooting or use-of-force. The author of your quote clearly does not, and neither do you. Please show me all these great cases where the law has protected a private citizen with a firearm who has gone out of their way to be a "sheepdog," as the author of your quote is clearly advocating. "Show me."

I'm not the one quoting stats and case law without supporting it (note: claiming that you've backed something up doesn't make it so...). What I HAVE done is posted direct examples from my experience in a field in which you have none. Zero. I don't know what you do for a living, but I can tell you for a fact that if pointed out something regarding your chosen profession and it's one in which I had no experience, I'm wouldn't be stubborn enough to fight over it with you for 5 pages...

because i know that RD will take it out of context!

That's funny, because it looks to me like I'm the only one who has remained IN context throughout this entire thread> I'm still talking about the stupid quote that ignores reality and your blind support for it. Meanwhile, you've accused me of being "afraid," of claiming to know every state's laws, of believing the police are "above" everyone else, and gone off on tangents about how well-trained your wife is (?). Um..Who cares?

Do you have ANYTHING to say regarding my initial point, or do you just want to keep claiming that this quote means something else, entirely (or spinning it to now mean a "small" group of "sheeps.." - un-freaking-believable) Or is just too much fun to bag on everyone who doesn't share your overly-romantic view of firearms?

When did i change my tone? Don't BS now because that is dumb!!

You're amazing. First, you supported the quote, itself - as written - simply by posting it. Then, when I pointed out its shortcoming and noted that CCW was more about self-defense, you continued to support its idea that one should be protecting other people:

Do you have CHL?? CHL in my state does allow for protection of others' lives (and property) in immediate danger, such as this theater shooting. It is not recommended but allowable.

Yeah, I do think that you miss his point.

You backpedaled on the issue of protecting "property." And then, after I mentioned that a private citizen should only be using their weapon to protect themselves and their immediate family, you responded with this:

In fact, i will ONLY use it to defend myself and my family against deadly force. I have repeatedly posted that view on this forum.

You only changed your tune to this song AFTER I mentioned it. And you 'repeatedly' posted that? Perhaps, but AFTER this post. Then, you couldn't post it that self-defense concept enough. I wonder why...

In fact, search for ALL my posts regarding guns...and see WHERE I HAVE SAID WHAT YOU ACCUSE ME OF. Trigger happy? Show me the money! Go ahead. Where did i change my tone? You and rebelbowtie are full of crap.

Well, I really don't care to spend half my life searching your 13,000-odd posts to see what OTHER ridiculous notions about firearms you may have. I do have a life outside of the internet. But I never said you were "trigger-happy", so maybe you should take your own advice and read my posts before you open your mouth. Just a thought.

Maybe my interpretation of gun-carrying, liability, and use-of-force is more valid because...um...I do it for a living? Maybe? Like I said before, if you tell me you're a nuclear engineer, I'm probably not going to sit here and tell you how off-base you are about fission and reactor cores...

Really? I counted ONE person who actually claimed to support you. And I don't think that person was even agreeing with the quote - just supporting you, personally. I don't know RebelBowTie from Adam, but he got what I was saying immediately, as did others.

"Old grudge?" WHAT "old grudge?" I don't even know you and have only been a member here for a short time. You know, just because I pointed out that you're wrong about something doesn't mean everyone is trying to gang up on Thai. Geez.

Here is my quote again...and interestingly, you did not address it.

Actually, the potention repercussion was brought up by you and has NOTHING to do with the quote. You need to do more case studies in Texas. [/QUOTE]

If I address everything you claim, to include everything that's not germane to my initial point, I'll be here all day. But OK, if it'll make you happy, we'll address it now:

First, the repercussions were brought up by me and have everything "to do with" the quote, simply because they are not mentioned there, not addressed, i.e. IGNORED.

Also, if I'm really not "telling you anything new" about the potential liability, you would never have posted and blindly-supported such a a ridiculous quote, to begin with. Because people who know the law and the reality of what can happen don't actually advocate what this quote does.

You may "know the law" as far as most concealed-carry classes teach - where you can carry, when, how long your permit is good for, how a gun works, etc. But please tell me where - in that whopping 10-hour Texas CHL class - you learned as much about the "laws" as you claim. Education notwithstanding, I've been to several different law enforcement academies (because I've worked for multiple agencies), but have also "lived" these laws every day. So if you're trying to say you "know the law" and are even remotely on a par with what I or any other LEO know, you're barking up the wrong tree, junior.

Obviously, you DON'T "fear" the law, and if that's the case, you have no business carrying a firearm. Yeah, I talk about it because you IGNORE it. It's just really cool to be a "sheepdog" right? Regardless of the consequences. I forgot.

Just so you don't accuse me of not addressing everything - no one is trying to stop you from protecting your family and that was never advocated (I know you wanted to get that "protect the family" statement in there again, to show everyone that that's what you've been about all along. Problem is, your little quote doesn't address that and neither did your initial support for it. And neither did YOU until I pointed it out. Welcome to Tune-Changing 101).

I won't start google-searching for incidents, but will tell you that I have been almost shot and shot at by people who meant well, but were in way over their heads and doing things they should not have. That's enough for me. Maybe you need an actual stat and a dead body, but I don't. Not when we're talking about MY life and having to deal with people who carry guns only because TV makes it look cool - which is the vast majority of people I get to deal with. Do you have the same experiences? If not, how would you know otherwise?

And now we'll resort to the "all cops are bad and misuse guns..." argument. Let's take it down to that level, because that's all we have left. You know, every time a cop does something bad, we hear about it in the news. But how many guys and gals went to work that day and did things RIGHT? I'm no math whiz, but I'll wager a lot more.

Also, please stop playing the "at least in Texas" card. There's this little thing called "reciprocity", which means there are MANY other states where you are allowed to carry. Do you "know the laws" in THOSE states? Probably not. There are actually probably very few people who know all of them. I'm not one of them and never claimed to be (despite your best efforts to paint me that way).

What I DO know and understand - and which you clearly do not, both from your posting of the quote and you subsequent failure to understand it - is that carrying a firearm isn't about being a crime-stopper and there ARE consequences to taking action. A lot times, there are consequences even for taking the RIGHT action.

I'm done addressing your nitpicking, off-topic statements, and insults to me and my profession.

Show you what? Stats? Funny how you keep asking for them, pounding your chest and demanding that I "show you the money" - but you never post any, yourself (?).

Well, I've made no claims that are statistically-based, so that would be kinda hard. It's all based on my experience and on what I've seen in real life. I don't really need a stat to tell me that I shouldn't try to be a one-man crime stopper.

I'm out.

And yes, i met all those requirements. :)

Wow. All of that in 10 whole hours. AND not be a felon or a nut job? I take it all back. You know way more than I do...

Randy, forgive me if I don't address everything to the 'T' in your last post, but I'll get to where I think your main point is.

If I'm not mistaken, one of them being about the citizen should not step over his boundaries as a CCL holder and try to be the 'hero' of the day, as there can be consequences for doing so? If this is correct, I want to place a quick address to this, as I respect you being an LEO, being that I work with County & SAPD down here. I know where you come from on believing what you may. But, if I may testify against, that even the boys down here believe in the citizens use of their CCL, not to be a 'hero' persay, but to take defensive action towards a threat. I believe it was said before on here, in case I think you or another LEO said it, you prefer citizens with CCL, being that in todays world, we don't have enough cops to be everywhere at once. With that said, alot of people are grateful for those who choose to "disobey" a building restriction or anything else, but are responsible gun owners. Because if it were myself, I would not hesitate within a moments notice to defend any life whether it be my own, or a 3rd party, for the sole purpose that, as stated before, LEOs are minutes away; the threat is only by seconds of their trigger. Yes, there may be 'consequences' in my ability & actions in doing so, but those may be well worth the salvation of life, and if I may use the Colorado shooting as an example, the little girl, or the wives, hubands, and even the 3 boyfriends who sacrificed themselves...

I agree with your viewpoints Randy, but I also agree with Thai, being that you both are correct, in your respective places and standpoints. You both have valid arguments, but in REALITY, both of yours should be used together. I don't believe in the CCL holder who is just 'itching for action', because if you are I want your CCL rebuked. But I do believe in the right to carry, and as both of our laws state, to defend your own life and property, or that of a 3rd person, and that goes for any situation.

"Show me."

Who is saying that a sheepdog goes out of their way??? Vigilante? You may have a definition of a sheepdog in your head. But, THINK ABOUT IT. What is a sheepdog in reality?? Does a sheepdog go out of its way to protect sheeps from other herds??

So, just because i have not experienced a shooting (which based on you guys, i should already be in jail!!), then i don't understand the due process afterwards? I don't understand what the law is? Great cases?

Joe Horn. You should look that up. Again, i would NOT do what he did...but it does show you that the TEXAS law is upheld in court.

See above. While i appreciate your field experience, i can also appreciate hard data. And when you can't provide it nor care to look it up, then your discussion is irrelevant.

But, that is relevant to YOUR tangent. Each state is different. Same basic laws, but the enforcement of such may differ. Texas is vastly different from CAlifornia for example.

What was your initial point? That your definition of a sheepdog is wrong? No one is claiming to be Batman here. I am not.

You're amazing. First, you supported the quote, itself - as written - simply by posting it. Then, when I pointed out its shortcoming and noted that CCW was more about self-defense, you continued to support its idea that one should be protecting other people:

So, just because i did not post all the disclaimers, it means that i somehow support running around with my guns blazing to track down the bad guys??? Are you moronic to think that?! This is where SEARCH does wonderful things. I have NEVER supported such.

There is no backpedaling. You're reading too much into nothing. In Texas you can protect property. Joe Horn. Do i care to do it? No. But, can you? Yes. Clear? In Texas, you can have a gun in the car even without a CHL...do i do it? No. But, since i did not state that initially in this thread, then it MUST mean that i put my gun on the dashboard of my car, right?? Don't act dumb man.

Who is "others" that supported you?

"Old grudge?" WHAT "old grudge?" I don't even know you and have only been a member here for a short time. You know, just because I pointed out that you're wrong about something doesn't mean everyone is trying to gang up on Thai. Geez.

Dude, learn to read. Old grudge applies to rebelbowtie, not you.

You may "know the law" as far as most concealed-carry classes teach - where you can carry, when, how long your permit is good for, how a gun works, etc. But please tell me where - in that whopping 10-hour Texas CHL class - you learned as much about the "laws" as you claim.

Strange how someone who has never taken the class, yet seems to know all about it. Hint: they DO teach you about the law...why don't you call one of the instructor and ask what they teach. Simple. :redbrick:

Obviously, you DON'T "fear" the law, and if that's the case, you have no business carrying a firearm. Yeah, I talk about it because you IGNORE it. It's just really cool to be a "sheepdog" right? Regardless of the consequences. I forgot.

huh?!

Geez. SHEEPDOG. Sorry, this is getting pointless.

Here is a shocker...you're ready???

For me, i care about my family and i will do everything on my end to protect them. Sure, if gun manufacturers stop making guns and the world is in perfect harmony, i am all on your bandwagon. But, until that day, i will be armed...and will fight for my rights to own firearms.

This was posted by me 7/26/2011. Weird huh? Wow, it is so strange how i read YOUR mind from back then to write this stuff!!

Damn statistics and body count! Why need them in a debate about guns?! :D

Blah blah. So, now, CHL folks are the same folks who think that carry guns is cool and not care at all about the law. Nice. Seriously?! Sorry, i have not met a CHL owner who goes around like how you describe it. In fact, NO ONE knows that i carry except my family. That kinda defeats the purpose of CONCEAL carry. Duh.

And your point? It is the same ridiculous point that you're making against CHL. Get it now?!!

That's the thing...i don't carry in other states until i am aware of their laws, regardless of reciprocity. Get it?! In fact, on a recent trip to LA, i kept my gun in the cargo area. Why would i want trouble in another state that i am not familiar with??!! That would be dumb.

being a crime-stopper and there ARE consequences to taking action. A lot times, there are consequences even for taking the RIGHT action.

No ****! When did i call myself a crime-stopper????????

Well, I've made no claims that are statistically-based,

No, really?!!!!

Looks like this is pretty much a circular argument. Let's move on to less divisive topics like religion and politics.

I'll never understand why forum folks like to debate such one-sided topics.

:ybrick:

But again, this guy is NOT saying that CHL/CCW is not enough of a defense against the wolves. I think that most educated person will know that you cannot, as a citizen, take up arms to defend your neighborhood (for instance). We, as citizens, are not cops...nor do many want/care to.

What do sheeps do in the field? I am far far away from being a sheep expert, even though i work in the country. :D Sheeps crowd together, at least they do on films. So, if a sheepdog is there, then he/she is there with the sheeps in the same group. I understand the confusion with this quote, but it is just not sensible to say that the sheeps have fangs to defend against the wolves. It is the sheepdogs that have the fangs. So, i guess (from my viewpoint) that the sheepdogs are sheeps with fangs among the sheep herd. And if there is a lethal threat (such as wolves), then the sheeps with fangs can help protect other sheeps without fangs.

I have no idea if what i wrote makes sense...but that is my view of it.

I think the sheepdog is the sheep that is armed. Furthermore, I think that we as people or sheeple whichever word conveniences you, have an important obligation towards wolfs(governments, tyrants, elite etc.) When governments fall out of line, it is our responsibility to intervene and fix the problem. The government is supposes to be our "waitress" not the other way around.

They make decisions for their interests not ours. To own a gun, be ignorant and not recognize who the true enemy is the ultimate failure as a society. In order to be armed physically, you also need to be mentally.

I have to be misunderstanding you...Are you actually saying that the government are the wolves and the sheepdogs are the civilians with guns and should take up arms against the government? AND ...the true enemy is the government? AND we are mentally ill prepared if we don't realize these things and use our weapons to rectify them?

This post needs some "splaining to me" If I'm misunderstanding please correct me. If not, please give me more of this position, what it solves and when it's necessary and who determines when it's time to take these radical and Waco or Columbine-ish actions.
