ProComp 8069?

Hey everyone, I've been trying to find some aftermarket wheels for a new look (and wanting new tires too soon) And I've really liked the procomp 8069's that a lot of you seem to run. However, where do you find them!? It seems they're not making them anymore?? Either that or my googling skills have crumbled.

These look really close, and seem to have the same specs as the 8069. So me being naive, can I assume they will fit the TBU if the 8069's do?

Thanks everyone! The goal is to avoid spacers by improving BS to stick the tires out a little bit more. And then run 285/75/16 General AT2's. I'm hoping this will work, but thought I'd ask around first!

Level 8 Trackers are close to the same style.

I don't think they're available in steel, only alloys. I can attest to the 17" versions working just fine with the 231mm TBU, but 17" anything is a pretty safe bet.

I am interested as well... They would seem to fit as they both have 4 inches of back spacing and are the same size wheel.

The 8069 was an alloy wheel I think. The one you linked is a steel wheel and will be considerably heavier. I went from steel procomp wheels to alloys and I don't think I'm ever buying a steel wheel again.

That being said, if you like the 8069, check out the 7069 (this might even be the replacement for the 8069? idk). It's what I currently have. It has the design you're looking at, it is alloy, and it clears my big Tundra brakes. I am running a 285/75/16 tire too. My goal was to ditch my spacers and clear my brakes at the same time

That's exactly what I'm hoping for. No spacers, still able to clear TBU, and poking those tires out a bit!

That is completely non-factual advice. I'm not sure about the Soft 8's, as I have no experience with them, but it's also clear to me that you have no real idea about the quality of the 8069's.

I've got the 8069's on my rig and I wheel harder and more often than most people on this site, and have had NO problems with them.

OP, The 8069's are discontinued, but the 7069 is still available. The only difference is that the 8069 is gloss black and the 7069 is matte. I highly recommend these wheels as they are affordable, durable, clear the 231 TBU, allow for 285's on stock UCA's, and look great.

Had them both on my 93 YJ before I sold it to buy my current 4runner. I bent two Soft 8', and one 8069. Both were 15x10 and 5x5.5. The Soft 8's are junk, and that is very evident from the reviews. With the 8069's it may have been bad luck for me, but I won't run them ever again based on that experience. The Soft 8's are steel wheels, and 8069's are cast aluminum. While they should be stronger sh*t does happen. I bent the lip on mine, and had they been steel I would have just welded on a beadlock and called it good.

That should be factual enough since it's first hand experience with both the wheels. I'm not saying they're junk or they'll bend for him, but they bend for me. I'll dig up some pictures when I get home since this was about 7-8 years ago.

Fair enough, although you're not quite comparing apples to apples as different sizes of the same wheel will react differently to similar loads.

I can dig up some pictures of my 8069's on trails all over UT, NM, and CO getting the snot beat out of them with no issues to help support my case as well. Or people could just go check out my build. Either way, my point is that the 8069/7069 in the particular size in question (16x8 4" BS) on our particular application (3rd gen), works wonderfully.

Didn't want to get anyone upset with the post here guys. Just looking for information and couldn't figure out the 8069. Thanks for letting me know that the 7069 was the current model, and the color wasn't a big deal for me. (matte/gloss)

Just looking for something with some better BS to clear 285's and poke the tires. At least I know I'm on the right track with a 16x8 w/ 4" BS!

I had a buddy recommend steel so you can bend it back vs. alloys cracking if you ever have a problem. So just figured I'd ask around and that's when I saw the visions or w/e.

I'll do a search as I'm sure the debate has happened already on steel/alloy... but any suggestions are always welcome. Looking for something light (which is making alloy come to mind) As I don't have the resources to SC yet... yet...

Hey guys I'm about to do the TBU and also upgrade to 37s at the same time. Due to this I need to go to 17s at the same time. I'm also looking for some help in finding a quality 17" wheel that has 4 to 3.5 backspacing. I've been through BigFishAllDay's wonderful thread and can't find anything with less than 4.75 backspacing that isn't awful looking. Thanks!

I second this. However, if your on 33s your probably not wheeling any terrain too hard that will give you issues. Some people have better luck than others.

I used to work at Discount Tire for 3 years and the soft 8 wheels would literally come out of the box already bent. They also took a decent amount of weight to balance out. But the wheels are cheap and easily replaceable.


I like the Mickey Thompson Classic III, Deegan 38 wheels, and Raceline makes a few nice alloy wheels with proper back spacing
