Prothane bushings vs...

I bought the red prothane bushings front & rear for my truck. Disassembled the sway bar and got ready to install them and then realized they were much thinner than the factory sway bar bushing and much smaller in overall size too.

I'm in SoCal so my factory bushings are in excellent condition. I was only going to change them to tighten things up in the steering a bit.

I can't see how a bushing that much smaller in thickness and overall size would be better.

Any comments on the long term ride quality would be appreciated from someone that has had the prothanes for at least 6 months.

I believe the V8 came is oem poly bushing. I have never done the upgrade on my 4R but that is what I have read on few boards. I have done the upgrade to my T100 and P/U and it was pretty noticeable difference. They held up fine over the years.

Far as I know factory bushing are all rubber regardless of V6/V8.
I have combination of Prothane and Energy Suspension. I don't notice much of a difference between them in terms of thickness. Brackets were slightly different design is all.

I replaced my OEM bushings and tie rods with Prothane one's and I must say (my suspension is really soft as its worn out...I need to replace it) but with my stock setup I noticed a good improvement in sway feel and better ride quality.

not sure what you ordered but mine were all the same size if not larger then Stock... also the prothane doesn't make any noise vs my squeaky stock bushings.:keyboard:
