Proud new owner of a '04 4runner

so this is my first car and i absolutely LOVE it and would like to build a pretty good rig, but have absolutely NO CLUE where to start. I have never really had much experience with cars or trucks but have always wanted to learn so it time to get my feet wet! Any tips on where to start would be awsome. i look forward to posting to this fourm more in the future :jump:

What do you plan to use it for? Daily driver, off-road, pavement princess? Your intended use is important.
 
I love black wheels + aggressive tires on 4runners. A nice sound system and LED's are a must, in my opinion.

and check out the floor mats made by WeatherTech... they will protect your ride well

id like to use it for off road/ daily driver.. i know i want to make the most out of the trd supercharger it came with but i just have no clue where to start because i'm a newbie to off roading but any advice would be awsome

You might not like what I have to say but my sincere suggestion is just to add sliders for protection and then get some experience off road. Learn how to drive off road before doing any more mods. With some experience you will be able to decide what makes sense and what doesn't for future mods. You might find it's fine as it is and save yourself a bunch of money. Find a local club or individuals to teach you the ropes, read some books, etc.

My point is that a newbie has a couple choices. Build the truck based on what other people do and take it on the trail expecting it to do what you want or learn how to wheel it stock and know the right things to do in any given situation.

9 times out of 10 the guy with a stock truck that knows the techniques will out wheel the guy with a built truck and no knowledge.
 
its fair and your honest i like that. i do want to wheel it stock im just a bit nervous to go by myself because i don't really have any friends that are into 4x4 but hey have to start sometime right? anyway thanks for the advice its much appreciated :cheers:
