If anyone has any advice, I would appreciate it...

I am purchasing another 4Runner, but I am not sure which one to choose. There are two options and a rather sizable price difference between them.

1. 2006 4x4 V8 Limited 121K mi. At a dealership which they are listing at $15.5K. It's very clean with only one owner and every option. It has a detailed Carfax report listing service at regular intervals at the dealership.

2. 2008 4x4 V8 Limited with 49K miles. Listed price is $25,800. It is also very clean, but the carfax report is not as detailed as the 2006. I'm assuming the miles driven were city miles considering the SUV averages about 8K miles a year.

Both have been in fender benders but no worse for the wear. Is it worth it to pay almost $10K more for a vehicle with 70k less miles? I hope to get at least 50-60k miles out of the 2006 if I decide on that one.

I'd choose the 2006 all day, everyday of the week.

I'd say this, the 2008 is overpriced. I'd take the risk of paying an independent mechanic to look at the 2006. 200k miles on a Toyota is very common so no worry on the miles.

Are you towing? If not, nothing wrong with a V6. I personally think they drive better and have as much pickup. Really it's torque for gas mileage.

IF you go here and put in the VIN (The dealer sold one should definitely have it listed) you can sign up and place the VIN in and get a description of all work done to the vehicle at a dealership. Good luck.

I don't think either of them are v6 and I'd go 2006

I'd go with the 06 and take any extra $$ to get all preventative maintenance done including TB, WP, and suspension (if they're all original). That'll get you another 80k miles easy!!
But either way...enjoy!

Yup, I have to agree with my T4R.org brethren regarding the '06. Sure, 49k on the clock is awesome, but if the "condition" of the vehicle is similar then I would get to '06 and use any saved money to mod it to your liking. $25,800.00 is absurdly high for that vehicle. Of course, what do you have to lose by offering $19,500.00?

'06 all day long.

We bought an '05 Limited v8 4wd with 131k for about that price a few years ago, and it now has close to 175k on it. It's still running just like the day I bought it. Spend the 10k on maintenance and upgrades instead.

I'd buy the 2006 as well. Use some of your savings to do some PM and save the rest.

buy #1 after negotiations and then despite the maintenance records swap out all the fluids and change the timing belt and be happy for another 100K...

#1 as well. Since you are from Ohio, I imagine they use road salts where you are. Just check for rust in the common areas, being the frame and the rear hatch under the window seal, as well as around the chrome trim. May be able to use that to take off a few dollars if there are minor rust spots.
