Put in D or use gated shifter

My gated shifter just took a crap and was wondering how many out there actually use their automatic gated shifter like a 4/5 speed manual? I use mine almost every time I drive; especially when offroading, towing, or descending CO mountain roads.

Why would you use the gate shifter for normal driving?

I use the gated shifter to downshift due to not having a front sway bar, its a must on street driving.
